2019 M4 CP interior popping noises
I've searched a few threads about interior noises, but couldn't really come up with anything related to my situation and was wondering if anyone here knows if this is normal for the M4 platform or not?
I have a 2019 M4 CP non vert with non full leather interior. The door panels pop and creak like hell after the car has sat in the sun all day at work then rapidly cooled by the fantastic ac this car has. I'm about to bring it into the dealer, but just wondering if that's a lost cause or not? I also use a windshield cover when parked... After the car is cooled down and the panels contract, the popping stops, but I still get a crinkling sound when laying my arm on the top of the door. It is REALLY annoying. Like popping bubble wrap! Any ideas if that is normal as well? TIA |

if you're sure its the heat causing the issue i'd try getting a ceramic tint done... even the windshield. it should block out a lot of the heat.
My F30 creaked all the time. I guess maybe its a quality control issue and I lucked out with my F80 since it doesn't creak at all.

Exact same situation for me. I thought it was due to the tint but others are having the same issue without tint. I didn't really notice this until the temperature started ramping up again.

I haven't experienced this in my F30 335i, nor have I experienced it in either of my F82 ///M4's. My '15 ///M4 did have a slight glove box rattle on really cold nights, and it was difficult to trace.

I have no tint and live in Southest Florida. So it's pretty damn hot down here. Any of you here that took it into a dealer with a resolution? There's Gott be a service bulletin on this somewhere.

I think it might be related to the ambient lighting in the doors. Will need to investigate it further but we'll see what the dealer says. I do love the red ambient lighting though.

I took my car to the dealership yesterday and replicated the noise in the door panel. I took a ride with the Shopforeman and he was able to hear it. Right now the dealership still has my car and they're not sure what the issue is.
I'm thinking that they will just order a new door panel lol. |

This happened to my f83 and I took it into the dealer. It didn't make the noise after that but came back after about 2 weeks

Dealer just told me that the trim is rubbing against the leather which makes the noise. SOP of ENTIRE door panel. ETA 7 days?

Bumpity bump. Dealership replaced the entire door panel plus speaker grill. Rattle is gone!

Update: Took the car to the dealer last week. They said there is a service bulletin for the door noises. There is a gap between the body of the door and the door liner. So, they lined the door panels in felt tape. So far, everything is pretty quiet. Still a few little creaks when going over rough roads with rubber bands for tires.

My 2018 M4 competition's dashboard made a lot of noise after sitting in the hot sun and then turning on the air conditioning. Mine had full leather and it didn't make a difference. It was much worse than my 2014 435i, for comparison. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Now I drive a 750i and completely forgot about those horrible noises!
