2nd hand turbos - 1 turbine FUCKED

What are my options here? Rebuilding the fucked up one?

I inspected them before I bought them but clearly I should have disassembled them…so fucking pissed.

Oh man, that sucks! What turbos are these? I’m assuming rebuilding is an option. I wonder if this is a rebuildable turbo, if they’d take this to avoid a core charge if you decided to go new? I’d contact Track/S because he’s the turbo whisperer!

I was literally about to pull my car apart to install them last night and thought “eh, can’t hurt to separate them to look” so happy I looked, definitely not happy I found this but saves me doing this 2x for the install.

How does that even happen? Did they not get oil when they were installed? Is that a foreign body type of damage? I’m baffled as to how that happens.

Btw the other turbo was completely fine. I am sending both back to pure just to be sure though

Sorry man. That’s a situation you don’t want to see anyone in. It’s a good thing you did decide to take a look because if you hadn’t the seller is going to say the damage was done after your install, not shipped that way.

Definitely looks like debris made it thru the intake filter and the debris was essentially shot peening just a small lower portion of the vanes. You’re in good hands with Track/S!

Contact the seller and have him pay for the rebuild of that turbo

Lately I have been seeing a lot of scams, 2 weeks ago a client of mine was cheated with a KW V4 suspension, rear left strut arrived broken and the seller thinks he is far away and no one is going to break his face.

Quick update. Police said it’s not something they deal with. My only recourse is small claims court. Only problem is I don’t have this dudes address…I’m pretty savvy on a computer but if anyone reads this and has access to LexisNexus drop me a DM pls? Haha

Pure can fix it. I believe the cost is around $450 per turbo

how did you pay? if you paid via credit card you should be able to do a chargeback

PayPal.

I’m in the midst of the chargeback situation w my bank. The problem is, the seller was allowed to provide documentation to PayPal and as the buyer, you are NOT allowed to provide documentation to PayPal.

PayPal sent the documentation that the seller provided to my bank and reversed the chargeback.

I have just had it reopened via my bank. Seller obviously provided documentation about the transaction only in his favor. The system is fucked
