Digging up this old thread. I just purchased an OEM M Performance rear spoiler from a dealer and it did not come with tape installed. Is the 3M 03614 tape still the best for this application? Thanks!

I just purchased an M Performance spoiler and it did not come with pre applied tape either. I called IND and they recommend this 3M's double sided automotive acrylic tape. Link below

To be honest any of those will do, even cheap ebay stuff you get with ebay parts. It's a spoiler, it doesn't create lift, even if it creates minimal downforce all it does is get pushed down.

Or get Gorilla 60lb tape lol:

I got it for other uses around the house and good luck getting stuff off.

Thanks for the additional inputs. I wound up getting the 3M 03614 tape and will give that a shot this weekend. Just waiting for my heat gun to arrive. I'll take any excuse to buy new tools...

I hear the 3m vhb 4991 is good. What width and length would I need? Thanks.
I don't know off the top but can measure the channel on the BMW CS spoiler.

I just received the CS offering and plan to complete the following this weekend.

- Remove the F80 MP (came on the car)
- Install the CS

You do not need a heat gun to remove the old spoiler. Just use fishing line or dental floss to remove the spoiler, then use a 3M stripe off wheel to get rid of all the old tape and glue. It will not damage your paint, it will save your fingers and it literally will take less than 30 minutes to get off all the old residue. Link below:

Thank me later.

Man, I wish that I had seen this before I literally tore the skin off of my left thumb trying to remove the tape. Purchased the wheel and was clean and smooth within 20 minutes!

Does anyone know whether 3M tape (such as the 3M 03614) would stick on ceramic coating surface? I recently had ceramic coating professionally applied by a local detailer, and I'm replacing the OEM spoiler with the M performance carbon fiber spoiler. The area that's currently covered by the existing OEM spoiler is not ceramic coated, but I imagine that the M Performance CF spoiler has a wider footprint and would need to adhere to a portion of the trunk that's already ceramic coated.
