F8x Owners that have driven the new Supra, what are your thoughts?
Any F8x owners that have spent some time in the new Supra have any thoughts on it? I plan on holding my F82 for at least another 18 months or so, but might check out the Supra at that point. I’ve seen them IRL and love the styling, but have yet to get in one and drive it. I’ve already had an F80 and now my F82, not feeling the G8x, and not quite ready to jump to a Porsche.

I sat in it not same but still
Feels like a step down, all bmw looks with cheaper materials and more plastic Smaller space. About same size as z4 Two seater will feel cramped Looks cool though

I think the Supra is a great step up from someone who has a M2, but to go from a M3 or M4 to a Supra is probably a step down I agree, in terms of space and quality.

I wouldn't get one for a few reasons: the ZF 8 speed is not as sharp on downshifts as dct. its not an M motor. the suspension setup is not ideal (you can read about the bump steer issue).
i'd probably look to a cayman instead even if its a 2015 model year for 50-60k.

It’s like sitting in a bank vault, like driving a pillbox on wheels. If you’re over 5’7, completely forget about seeing anything. The car has the worst visibility inside the cabin of anything I’ve ever driven, and that includes a Diablo ffs.
It’s a shame too, because the car is very nice and I wound up appreciating most of it on the test drive. I will have my eye out for a 6MT with a targa top version. A targa would solve a huge amount of the problems I had with the car. |

The seating position is horrendous and visibility is something out of a Camaro.
This is coming from a former BRZ owner so it’s not like I’m not familiar with small cars. The inputs are not my cup of tea. Steering is too light even in Sport mode. Brake pedal has longer travel compared to M3. The interior design and quality especially with NAV screen pointing what seems like away from the driver are all big negatives for me. I do think its a bargain if someone wants a car to flash tune and put down 0-60 times. I would much rather have M2, 3 or 4 over Supra. |

Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻. I’m 6’ so it sounds like the Supra might be uncomfortable for me. Just trying to shortlist what to look at next, I’m also digging the new Nissan Z but that’ll probably be a step down, along with the Supra. Might just have to get a C7

I plan on keeping my '18 f80 for a long time but I'm thinking of the new Z as being my 2nd car since it's coming with a manual. I bought an 03 Z brand new and I loved that thing.

My friend and I took turns driving my F80 with CS suspension against his 2020 Supra. We both agreed that his car feels more special when you get in . . . Like a real sports car . . . but after driving them both the M3 does everything about 10-20% better, at least with the CS suspension. The Supra feels like a 7/8's M car. I enjoyed driving it but I liked my car better. If they came out with an S58 manual Supra with a real M style suspension? That would be pretty interesting . . .

Look at the GT350. Those engines just sound special. It’s the only 4 seat car in the similar price range (my requirement plus a manual) that I would consider.
Also look at AMG GT if two seats are enough and looks don’t bother you. They depreciated fast, at least last year. |

Coming from a base M3, I had to update to ZCP dampers and the rear bar which was a far more expensive project, but still worth it IMO.
