P3 Gauge ethanol and BM3 Flex Fuel

I’m ignorant when it comes to electronic wiring. So, before buying a P3 gauge, I wanted to know that it would work to read the ethanol on the BM3 flex fuel sensor.

I reached out to BM3 and the guys at P3 Gauges. Both of them said they don’t know if the two items will work together.

I know that the BM3 kit makes it so their app can read the E content via the OBD port. Somehow I don’t think the P3 Gauge is going to be able to do that?

If it can’t read it via OBD, I need the ethanol adapter for P3 but then how do you place it in line so the connections from the BM3 sensor work at the same time the info is sent to the P3 Gauge?

Yes, I’ve searched and haven’t seen anyone post that it works so I’m guessing that it doesn’t???

I’m kind of amazed that no one has this answer. 😕

As long as the P3 can read the standardized 0xEC CANbus ethanol format, then it should be able to display it.

I didn’t want buy some thing that I can’t return if it doesn’t function. I figured with as many people running the P3 gauge and the BM3 flex fuel kit that somebody here would have this combo working and know.

Out of curiosity, why would you want to use a separate gauge for the ethanol content when you can just use the button on your steering wheel for it to display on the tach?

Well, the P3 Gauge is super nice and I like all of the info that it gives. But, I would find more value in it being able to display my current ethanol mix along with the rest of its offers.

In truth, you don’t “need” any of the values the P3 Gauge displays unless you do X, Y or Z with your car. So it’s more about how flexible it could be.
