Hub is rusted
Kick the back or hit it with a rubber mallet Should come off Be sure to clean the hub with wire brush before putting the wheel back on |

Yep. Your alum wheel is effectively corroded to the alum brake mounting hat. You’ll need to apply a huge force to break the wheel free. Lying on your back and kicking with both feet doesn’t always work!

I didn’t clean anything… Is that bad?Should I take the wheel out again and scrape it with the brush? I didn’t think the rust was was gonna be removable so I just put the wheel back on.

Yes; at your convenience, remove the wheel again and use a steel wire brush on the hub to knock the rust off the jaws. For good measure you can also apply a thin layer of anti-seize to the outside surfaces of the jaws to prevent the rust from developing to the point of making the wheel stick again. I recommend Permatex #80078 anti-seize lubricant.
