I’ve seen this issue talked about before, but haven’t really seen a solution. Would something as simple as this fix the issue of polarized sunglasses blocking out the heads up display if I were to just apply the screen over the HUD screen? The product on Amazon is not advertised for that directly, but could it work do you guys think?

I've read that the brand of glasses also makes a difference in how the HUD appears to you through them. I have 2 pairs of Raybans both polarized, one is prescription and the other is not. My non-prescription, the HUD is barely visible. If it is sunny outside enough I can't even make it out. But my prescription ones it just makes the HUD a few shades darker. This is also on a tinted windshield

I got a pair of Persol non-polarized and never looked back. Love the glasses and see the HUD perfectly in my car and my wife’s Volvo.

Different glasses might make a difference but it won't cure the problem. It's the way the HUD works, by reflecting light off the windshield. The windshield reflects the light polarized almost horizontally, so your vertically polarized sunglasses end up blocking most of it.

I noticed this issue as well, and if I tilt my head slightly left or right I can read the HUD clearly. I also noticed in iDrive that the HUD display can be rotated left or right. I'm wondering if this feature exists to solve this very problem.

As we all know, currently the HUD doesn't have anything that would compensate for polarized sun glasses. We will just have to live with it.

get a pair of Oakley's with a prism lens. I have a few pairs and they all work perfectly. Other lenses from the brand completely block the HUD though. So, make sure you get prism if you go that route.

There doesn't exist a simple film or something out there to apply to the hud screen that can combat polarization? It seems so simple. But I'm not sure I'm not a scientist lol.

Thanks everyone for chiming in but im not looking for any sunglasses recommendations. I have 2 really awesome pairs of ray bans and I don't think its worth it to buy a whole new set just to see a HUD in my car that I drive maybe 3 days a week (and during the day) haha

WTF? Not looking?
Was this just a flex to tell everyone you wear Biden Specs?

In the original post it is made clear that he is seeking a way to modify the car / HUD projector screen, and not his eyewear. Unless it’s my eyewear that needs updating…

Honestly, there isn't anything that I know of that will assist, except for changing your glasses. As the polarization filters out the HUD images off the windshield.

Quoting myself to confirm that I tried adjusting the HUD through its rotational range and it did not affect the filtering effect through my polarized glasses.

Guys, if your HUD is too dim or not visible with polarized lenses just tint the windshield with a nano ceramic film. The HUD shows now with my RayBan P lenses, and the car stays quite a bit cooler from heat/UV reflection.
