Getting a boat, only have M4 to tow, can it do it?
I'm moving to Tallahassee for college and am currently searching for a 16-18ft center console to buy (1990-2000 years). I've only got my M4 to tow it with, and I am more than confident it can tow this boat with ease, however I want to get other opinions. I've seen them tow much bigger boats online, I've seen them tow big enclosed trailers, I've seen them tow lots...
I have a place to store the boat, and I'm not too worried about towing it either, because as I said, I'm confident that it can tow it with ease, but what about when putting the boat in? My only concerns are that this low car (I'm on stock suspension) is going to touch the saltwater every time I guarantee.. Just hosing off the back end and under the back end really good after I put the boat in and take it out each time and would it be fine? And someone fact check me on the towing please. |

Is there room to install a hitch?

Reminds me of squidbillies, "truck boat truck"
Sounds like your priorities are a bit jumbled. You will have the following: Reduced braking Higher engine load Higher fuel consumption Higher brake fade Higher brake wear Higher load on tires Should I continue?

I wouldn't recommend towing a boat with a M4, listen to others and get yourself a old pickup for this task.

Don’t tow the boat. Put it on top of the car.

Getting a boat means you will have a lot of new friends, one of them will have an SUV or truck with a hitch rated to tow a single axle. I can't imagine where in life I would be now @ 18/19 with an M4 and boat haha. Be smart OP, and don't put a hitch on this thing.

I like the renting a truck idea. Not sure how frequent you are gonna be taking the boat out but you should do the math on a used truck, insurance, registration, etc... vs renting a pickup. Id imagine it would be cheaper to rent a truck for the day or weekend unless you are boating every weekend or something...
