They aren't that heavy for a 20" wheel actually but of course there is lighter wheels on the market. The design of the 666 wheels is not the lightest but they look good in my opinion. But i would never pay 12000 dollars for a set of regular one-pice billet alloys when i can build a unique set of wheels like these.

I am sorry to say, but the 666M are terribly heavy. Just read up in this very thread. The rear 763M in the same size are whopping 4.1lb lighter. Heck, the much bigger 21x12 rear wheel on my 992TT are over one lb lighter than the 20x10 666M .

Curious, if you know, about the weights of the wheels once tires and air comes into play.

Using your Porsche versus the 666M wheel for example… does the weight difference become greater or does it lessen once we get to the final weight with tire/air?

It's a pointless comparison since the rear tires on the 911 are massive compared to the M4: 325/30R21 vs 285/30R20, so the 911 rear tire/wheel will be quite heavier but also comes with the benefits of the greater size. The point of discussion here is the lousy design of the 666M.

BTW, the weight of the air in the tire is negligible.

It's interesting that all the M3 rims are made by Fuchs, yet the 666M are boat anchors. It was a re-occuring theme for BMW to give the Competition Package (and subsequently CSL & GTS) cars heavy rims. You'd think it'd be other way round.

Agreed. The 666M are a big disappointment, particularly on the GTS. The optional 681M are much better, but crazy expensive. Also, as far as I know, the 763M are not made by Fuchs, and they are by far the best OE wheel offering for the F8X IMO.

That's true, the 763M are made by SAI, who also, I think, make the GT4 race car wheels. A set of those in 19" sizing would be the only alternative I would consider. I love my 513M 18s, though.

763M are 19" front but 20" rear. As I posted, 4.1lb difference is for the same 20x10 size wheel...

Yes, they 666 wheels aren't the lightest but i like the design. They are more unique than the 763's. Almost every manufacturer makes wheels similar to the 763's. My carbon fiber barrels are not as light as you may think. The wheels will not be lighter than the lightest forged wheels on the market.

Indeed, the 763M design is not uncommon. But there's a reason for that, it's probably one of the most optimal design it terms of weight and rigidity. BBS nailed that quite a few years ago

Bringing some new information on that thread ! Been playing around with exhausts and seats lately so I thought I would take the opportunity to weight everything out and report on this thread !

Also, the MPE and Akrapovic weight are not currently comparable on this thread as no one weighted the first part of the exhaust which include the OEM secondary cats.

Exhausts

OEM Exhaust (including all its hardware) : 36.8kg / 81.13lbs

MPE Exhaust (without secondary cats pipe) : 19kg / 42lbs
Secondary cats pipe : 8.15kg / 18lbs
MPE FULL Exhaust (including OEM secondary cats) : 27.15kg / 60lbs

Full Akrapovic Evo Exhaust (including all its hardware) : 24.15kg / 53.24lbs

So in the end, MPE saves 9.65kg/21.3lbs over the OEM exhaust. Akrapovic saves 12.65kg/27.9lbs

The MPE muffler is a lot simpler and lighter than the Akrapovic one which is why there is only 3kg/6.6lbs difference between the 2 exhausts despite the MPE having only the muffler in Titanium.

Seats

I have replaced my oem CS/Competition seats by the Euro Spec M4 GTS seats (Carbon Pole position) and weighted everything again :

Full OEM CS/Comp seat (inc rails, seatbelt pretensioner...etc) : 26.2kg / 57.8lbs

Full OEM M4 GTS Carbon Pole Position seat (inc rails, seatbelt pretensioner...etc) : 12.2kg / 26.9lbs

So the total weight saving for swapping the 2 seats out is 28kg / 61.7lbs

Today i went off to my friend at his tyre shop and weighted my car. I have made a few changes from last year and was curious about how much it weighted.
I have a 6-speed 2017 M4 competition with every option available except CD changer and smoker package, including every M performance option available from new. i have M4 GTS seats, GTS hood and, for this year, new wheels.
I filled the car full with fuel and weighted it and ended up at 1575kg's, or 3466 lbs. Without fuel that equals to 1530 kg's, or 3366 lbs.
Not too bad on such a high specced car.

Just for fun i took out my M performance carpets and replaced them with the stock ones, emptied the washer fluid tank just so the warning light didn't go on and i lost 11 pounds so now the car weighs 1570 kg's or 3454 pounds with full tank, or 1525 kg's or 3355 pounds empty.

Cool! If I'm remembering correctly, then the typical wheel/tire package for the OEM 666M is around 51lbs fronts and 54lbs rears. How much weight have you saved with your carbon version of the 666 wheels?

That could be right. I saved 20% weight on the new wheels.

My car is 3680 with fuel fuel. It had my signatures on it 305/265, midpipe, downpipe, carbon roof, executive package, drivers assistance package and full leather. I think the 18" slicks are a little lighter.

Ok! I have all options except CD-changer and cigarrette lighter, plus all M performance parts from the dealer from new. My car weighs 3443 pounds fully fuelled. But it's manual, CCB's and GTS hood and seats, 20" carbon/billet wheels.
