Agreed. I find Andy Pilgrim to be one of the more solid reviewers for cars on track. He’s got a hell of a pedigree and he does his research well on the car he reviews.

His track reviews moved to Roadshow. He recently did the G80 and the 992TT-S (the latter here, but interesting to me ).

Thanks for the new link! I've been waiting for proracerstake to come back which it obviously never will. His review of the G80 echos what I've heard from a few drivers/racers I trust about the car on track.

One thing Andy might not be aware of is that the BMW * version of the PS4S developed specifically for the G8x is a *lot* different than the normal replacement market PS4S. I think it was the Tyre Reviews guy who did the comparison testing not too long ago. The G8x specific PS4S* performs more like a Cup2 240.

Yes, the G8X star spec PS4S are massively different than the generic PS4S. Tyre review found them to be ~1.5s/min lap faster than the generic ones, which is MASSIVE.

As to comparing them to the 240TW PSC2, it is more complex. From everything that I have read, the "new gen" 240TW PSC2 is actually a better track tire than the "old gen" 180TW PSC2. Which leads me to believe that 240TW PSC2 is still slightly better than the G8X spec PS4S, but that the G8X spec PS4S is likely equivalent or even better than the old 180TW star spec PSC2. If I would have kept my M4cs, the G8X spec PS4S are the tire I would have installed on it.

BMW definitely got something right on the G8X by speccing proper tires. The OE tires on the F8X were its weak point, the OE tire on the G8X are one of its strongest assets.

To add to this thread, just for reference. I replaced the oem PSS tires on my m3cs today with a set of 265/35-19(98Y) and 285/30-20(99y) pilot sport 4S and couldn't be happier. I was afraid the larger fronts would mess with the razor sharp front end but it feels great and these tires are leaps and bounds better than the oem PSS.

The CS was actually designed for 265/35R19 front tires

IMHO PSS are garbage tires on this car, easily overwhelmed. I went to PSC2 265 F/285 R and the grip is phenomenal and once CCB's are warmed up, dang.. It's like dropping an anchor behind you, I'm not sure why mags/reviews shit on the CS but its one heck of a car once you learn its quirkiness. DSC always off, MDM in the rain.

I also think this is contributing to my horrible floaty feeling on top of the Dinan springs. Tired 255 PSS. might just end up ditching them.

The PSS that were on my car were the Factory 2018 stamped tires and they're hard as a rock. Perfect wear but just too many heat cycles. The PS4S is so smooth, so quiet and the road compliance is unreal. I keep thinking about lowering the car but the 265 filled the wheel well up nice and I had to mess with this suspension.

Yep, I have two sets on my E92 and love them. I'll likely run the 240tw Cup2 for the CS, but haven't ruled out the PS4 or maybe even PS5 yet.

According to Michelin, the 9” wide wheel is within the acceptable range for the 275/35R19 PS4S. I ran the rear star spec 275/35R19 PSS, which has a wider thread than the PS4S*, on the front of my M4 for a period without rubbing issues.

Was it your car that had the mismatched rear tires too? Toyos or something back there? Don't underestimate the directional stability impact of running two dramatically different tires front vs rear, especially when the junkier tire (tire that requires higher slip angle for equivalent grip and/or has a lower spring rate sidewall) is on the rear. If so, the car will be completely transformed with proper matched tires on it.

That's right. Previous owner added hankook ventus evo2's.

^^ I suggest get new tires first before removing parts to see how it changes the vehicle dynamic. I have Dinan HAS and have zero of the issues you keep bringing up with aftermarket sway bars and end links and its tight (soft setting right now f/r).
When I had stock suspension, I found the rear of car loose/wobbly on entry and especially when the road had undulations or ripples. Gone now, no rubbing or pushing.

Any who, that's my experience so far. I just received my BAF rear K brace to tighten it a bit more.

I did it in the meantime till I fork over $$ for a set of coils.

I went w EMD’s for about a week on my M3CS the ride was very comfortable and felt really a lot better than stock. The issue I had it ran very low so I scrapped over everything and entering my garage was a problem as well. So I switched to KW DDC set up which I really love it’s low but not too low and rides much better than stock at speed.

If you live in a once you can ride low can’t go wrong w EMDs

MPHAS for a conservative drop or dedicated street coilover for an aggressive drop (KW or Bilstein). One issue of pure lowering springs is the stock bump stops are still utilized - the MPHAS setup is essentially a rebranded KWHAS system which replaces the actual spring perch and uses a shorter bump stop to allow for a little more shock travel.

Just my 2-cents based on experience with lowering stock shocks.

It's not a simple rebrand. The MP-HAS have distinct spring rates tuned, tested and optimized by BMW themselves. IMO, the MP-HAS are superior to the KW-HAS.
