2019 BMW M4 CS Frozen Dark Blue II Journal.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and take a look at my little thread here! My car is already well into it's mod/build life, but I wanted to post this thread here to answer questions people might have about my car. I really appreciate all the nice PMs and messages I receive on my car, and I never want anyone to think I'm not returning their kind comments by being short with them in PMs. I just get a ton of inquiries from people concerning my car, and I want to have somewhat of a history of the car here for people so that I can point them to it. I love this car so much and love sharing it with random strangers on a daily basis. I can't even go to the store, gas station, etc. without somebody wanting to know all about the car. The reactions this car gets are just wonderful, and I'm so happy to see people adore it as much as I do. Anyway, it's a 2019 BMW M4 CS in the FDB2 individual color. I purchased the car in September of 2022 at BMW of West St. Louis here in town. The car had 14k miles on it, and was absolutely stunning when I first saw it. The only other M4 CS I had ever seen was a white one without ICONs at another local dealer, but this FDB2 one just blew me away. I was extremely happy with the 2015 F80 I was driving at the time, but due to my size the F80 was just very uncomfortable to get in/out of (prior to the F80 I had owned 2 F82s and a G82, and really missed the wide door openings). I also drive with the windows down at nearly all times, and the F80 suffers from a wind buffeting at highway speeds which doesn't impact the F82 cars. So I took the CS for a test drive and even in its stock form it just felt like a superior machine. I loved everything about it, and got the deal done pretty quickly. When I purchased the car there were a couple issues. The rear tires were all seasons, and there were some paint issues on the hood and passenger's side fender. It appeared some sort of chemical (we have no idea), got on the paint and left a sort of "ghosting" which could only be see in broad daylight. When I had first seen the car, and when I took it for a test drive, the ghosting wasn't visible. However, prior to taking ownership of the vehicle and signing the papers, it was broad daylight and the ghosting could be seen at a specific angle. Pretty bummed out about the whole thing, BMW of West St. Louis stood up big time and agreed to give me new Michelin rear tires, and to repaint the hood/passenger's fender. If I wasn't happy with the work, I could back out of the deal at anytime. It was really a no lose situation so I went ahead and went for it. As well, I never really liked the Vorsteiner spoiler which came with the car (the car was otherwise completely stock). Since the car was already in for paint, I went ahead and had the rear deck lid filled in and completely resprayed as well. I think they did a fantastic job and I took the car away right away with a huge smile on my face. Please see below for some initial pics of the car when I purchased it, and then after getting it back from paint. |

As everyone knows (or hope they do hah), the F8x cars require a drop almost immediately. I had always gone with KWV3s on my former cars, but this car is still well under warranty and I wanted to keep it with BMW parts. So for this car, I went with the MPHAS kit as other forum members who had owned a CS had great things to say about them minn19 CanAutM3. At the same time, I also went ahead and purchased an MPE with carbon tips (again keeping with the BMW warranty). I had all the parts installed at BMW of West St. Louis, and once again they did a fantastic job for me. The MPHAS is just wonderful, gives the car a nice little drop without having to worry about crushing the pricey front lip every time I exit my driveway. The MPE, well that thing speaks for itself. I never, ever get sick of the pops/bangs/burbles this thing throws out in Sport Plus! The MPE is an absolute requirement for these cars I believe!
I also had the dealer throw on some 10mm spacers all around for me, giving it a bit more of a flush look. Last edited by NickyC; 08-05-2023 at 10:34 AM.. |

Next up, it had to be the Vorsteiner diffuser. I had this part on my prior three F8x cars, and would never own a car without it. It just completely makes the rear end in my opinion, and I went with the 2x weave to match the carbon tips and CS rear lip. Also threw on an iND matte black CS badge because chrome don't get you home or something!

Next up and keeping with the Vorsteiner theme, I found a nice pair of their 2x2 carbon skirts for sale on the forum. I had purchased these brand new for my YMB M4 a couple years prior, and had absolutely loved them. They're unique in that I think they look fantastic, don't protrude out too far, and have nice little winglets on the side (notice I said little, take notice G8X MP parts yuck!).

I think the interior on the car is darned near perfect with the full leather, GTS door cards, alcantara inside, etc. However, I decided to add some mechanical paddles which I purchased from a forum member and I still love these things as much as the first time I tried them. So much fun! I also added the iND blue M1/M2/Start/Stop buttons and the matte carbon trim from the M2. However, I wound up selling the matte carbon trim after a few weeks as it just didn't flow with the interior I didn't think. I went back to the OEM plastic and I just think it works better for the car.

Next up, I dropped a nice chunk of change on a wonderful Brembo GT BBK setup sold from a forum member. I love wild colors, and these came in a custom Mint Green color. It was a bit of a gamble placing them on my FDB2 car, but I couldn't be happier with the way it came out. People LOVE these things, anybody who loves seeing those calipers pop out through wheels like me just goes ape over these things. I think they're by far the best mod of the car. Added bonus was they came with ceramic pads, so brake dust is a thing of the past! They also arrived basically brand new, these things didn't even look like they had 300 miles on them. Proof that good/honest people are still out there because these things were not cheap and I took a big gamble buying them from a guy halfway across the country!

Not wanting to get too ridiculous (had to talk myself out of mint green underglow lol), I asked iND to make a matte black CS badge for me with a mint green surrounding. They knocked it out of the park as usual, and at an extremely fair price!

Finally, I decided to get around to applying the BMW matte nano wax to my car. Since the paint really can't be polished using my traditional orbital buffer, I had to do it by hand and it took me around three hours. This stuff is wild, it's like a grease/oil you smear on the car. It gave the car a hint of shine, but I really think it made the colors much more lush. The way water beads up on the car right now is something else too. I think it was a good move to help protect the matte paint even though the car is always garaged and has seen rain exactly once in the past year since I purchased it.

I had some yellowing on the IKON headlight rings, so once again BMW stood up big for me and replaced them with brand new units. Both sides replaced under warranty! The hood gap is just a bit off due to the bumper needing to be removed/reinstalled, however they have promised to fix it for me in a couple weeks when I take it in for servicing. All should be well then!

That's it for now! I have no other mods planned for the car because I think it's looking perfect the way it sits. I can't even get myself to change the wheels because the 763Ms are just gorgeous and I love the Orbit Grey color. I think they compliment the car perfectly, and anything short of some high quality HREs or something I think I'd be selling the car short.
If I do think of anything new to do, I'll be sure to update the thread. Thanks again for stopping by! |

Great post, man. I think as far as mods go, outside of everything you did, there isn’t much you can do. These cars are perfect. After seeing your side skirts, I am definitely going to look for a set. I have the same diffuser but feel like the side skirts complete the look more than my M perf style ones.
Only thing I wish I had on my LRG CS are either a BBK like yours, or the CCBs but I am going to wait for my E88s to get here before deciding on what approach to take. Only mods I have next are the Mishimoto charge pipes and top mount intercooler as mine leaked on my base 2016 M4 when I had that. |

Hey you're doing just fine with the gorgeous mint green M4 Comp, what a car/color! With all the money you've put into that beauty I can understand needing to take a breather (we've all been there)! You'll get something just a nice soon I'm sure, but in all honesty your car is already amazing so don't sweat it. Thanks again! |

My local dealer had a used M3 CS on the lot last month, in FDBII. It had about 40k miles and the paint was rough, with deep scratches in all kind of random spots, the splitter was curb-rashed as were all the rims. I thought of you upon seeing the car

If I remember correctly, price was between $200-225 at iND and turn around time was about two weeks. The badge has held up flawlessly since purchase, and I couldn’t be happier. Get some for your car, and thanks again for the kind words! |

Hope everyone is doing well. No mods to speak of since last updates, the car is perfect to me the way it is. The only part(s) I constantly have an eye out for are the G82 M4 carbon bucket seats. I've been close to snagging a set a couple of times but was just $1k or so off from what the seller wanted. The price on the seats is sure to only come down in the months/years ahead, so I'm sure I'll land a set eventually. For now, I've just applied another layer of the BMW matte wax. Came out really well once again I think, now to enjoy the car for the summer!
