Not sure of color, if I keep I will likely paint orbit grey.

Wheel repainting is done. I just couldn't get into the bronze color, so had them refinished in orbit grey to keep the CS theme alive. I have mounted Cup2 tires for now in 265/285, but once these get burned down I will go with the 265/305 setup. I also received my set of classic HRE center caps today (red/white/blue) and will be running those instead of the silver/black. All in all, very happy in the end. The wheels have a lot of depth in person, I think they look far better than in pictures.

Way better, especially with the classic HRE caps which provides contrast. I've never been a massive fan of bronze wheels, it just looks like brake dust.

Hi everyone, happy Labor Day weekend! I have finally, after around 18 months of searching, sourced a set of carbon bucket seats from a G82 M4! After wading through countless potential scams (stay OFF of FB Marketplace, it's scam city unless the sale is local, and you can inspect before purchasing!) I was finally able to source a set on Ebay from an absolute car enthusiast who was only 250 miles from me. To make matters even sweeter, he had a bit of time off and hand delivered the seats to my house! It couldn't have been a nicer experience, and I wish the seller all the best going forward!
Anyway, I was able to find the color seats I really wanted. It's very difficult to find these seats right now. They are extremely expensive, sellers "know what they got" so to speak, and when you have an M4 you MUST get the M4 version of the seats. If you have an M4, you need the strap on the back of the seat which allows you to fold it down, otherwise you will not be able to access the rear seats no matter how far forward you push the seat. If you're looking for a set yourself (and have an M4), do NOT settle for the M3 seats or I promise you, you'll be sorry! M3 owners could obviously use the M4 seats, but then you would have the added cost of needing to source an M3 badge to keep the seats OE looking. Having sourced the silverstone/black seats, I could not be happier. The stitching on the seats closely matches the stitching on my CS. While we're not going to look 100% perfect here, I have always loved two tone seats since my Z3 ///M Roadster days, and now I have them again! The only part of my CS which I have never been crazy about is the sort of greyish/black interior, devoid of any color. These new seats really spice it up, and I couldn't be happier! Please see some initial pics of the seats below. Last edited by NickyC; 08-31-2024 at 11:11 AM.. |

Being like a small child with no patience, I had to install these almost immediately. The following morning, I set to work and had them installed in about 30 minutes. Installation is a 1/10 on the difficulty scale, it is EXTREMELY easy to swap out seats in our cars. There are only four bolts (you need a T-50 torx ratchet) holding the seats in, and a very simple electrical plug which you must undo from the seats (the electrical plus is easy to spot, it's at the front base of each seat and is bright yellow). You must unbolt the four bolts first, then unplug the seats. You need to save the plug as the last step because you will need to move the seat back/forth electronically in order to get at the bolts in the front/back of the seat. I left the car powered on with the battery while I did the work. The airbags aren't going to go off on you, and all the restraint system lights are going to blow up as soon as you power the car back on anyway. The seats are very, very easy to pull out due to the size of the M4 door openings (I imagine this would be much more difficult on an M3). I was able to easily pull the seats from the car without touching any portion of the vehicle frame.
Please see below for a few quick pics of the seat removal, along with the yellow electrical plug you will need to be on the lookout for. Last edited by NickyC; 08-31-2024 at 11:59 AM.. |

Next up is just installing the seats which is basically in reverse order. The first thing you want to do is plug the seats in. Luckily, the G82 seats use the exact same sort of connection as the F82 so just reinstall the plugs and you are good to go. If the seats don't power on right away, don't worry. The car likely just went to sleep, and you can power them back on after hitting the ignition again (this was my only momentary time of panic, when I thought maybe the motors in the driver's seat didn't work hah!). As mentioned, plug them in first so you are able to activate the motors in the seats in order to access the bolt in points. *I HIGHLY recommend* starting your first bolt with the rear bolt closest to the center console. It is the only difficult bolt to get to, and I recommend doing that one first and then leaving it a bit loose so you can position the seat to line up with the other three mounting holes perfectly. Sort of just ease the seat into position with all four bolts, then tighten all four bolts down finally once you have it in place. Easy!
Please note, on the M4 the driver's side seat controls function as normal, but the passenger's side seat controls are all backwards! In other words, to get the passenger's side seat to go forward, you need to push the corresponding seat control button BACK. It's not a big deal, but just sort of a weird little quirk. Please see below for how the seats now look in the car! Last edited by NickyC; 08-31-2024 at 11:42 AM.. |

Beautiful build so far. I can't wait to see the seats once they're installed. In my eyes, this is a perfect build.

With the seats installed, let's now go over what happens:
1. The restraint system lights pop up for both the driver's side and passenger's side (obviously). This includes the air bag lights and seat belt lights. You will need them coded! 2. You will lose heating in your seats. 3. Since my car is a CS, I don't have the active warning stuff that other cars might have, so I cannot speak to that. HOWEVER, in other threads I have read on the subject you will lose that system if equipped on your car. 4. You will lose the seat air bags, but all other air bag systems in the car works. 5. You do NOT need to switch over the seat belt buckles. The seat belts from the F82 lock in perfectly with the buckles on the G82 seat, this saves you a ton of time. 6. The ///M logo does light up as normal when you open/lock the car! 7. All other seat controls work. Forward/back, tilt, and bolsters. 8. For the M4, you will not need to do anything with the seatbelt and how it’s anchored. Unlike the M3, the seatbelts in the M4 are NOT attached to the seat. This will again save you a good amount of time on the M4 install. For M3 owners, please be sure to watch the Kies F80 carbon bucket install video on YouTube to see how he dealt with this issue in the F80. The seatbelts in the M4 line up absolutely perfectly with the G82 seats and nothing is needed there. Most importantly, and to me this was huge since I'm 6'4. You easily gain around 2 inches of additional head room! You feel like you are on the FLOOR now. I had to adjust the steering wheel and all mirrors, and I can no longer make out the odometer perfectly. Of course, I do have the G82 seats on their lowest setting and you can pop them up if so desired. This is very good news for any track rats who might not have enough headroom with a helmet with the stock seats. The G82 seats will get you some much needed clearance! With the seats installed, let's cover comfort and coding:
1. With the seats all the way down, you will gain an easy 2+ inches in headroom. You basically sit on the floor with these seats! I had to adjust the steering wheel and all my mirrors, and now cannot make out the odometer section totally. This is on the lowest setting of course, so you can pop the seat up a bit if not comfortable being that low. This is very good news for track rats! If you are having issues with headroom with a helmet on, be sure to look into these seats if you have the budget! 2. Comfort. To me, these are the most comfortable seats BMW has ever made and I've been driving them for over 25 years now. However, they are not for everyone. They are more difficult to enter than standard seats, and once you're seated you are absolutely locked in with little room for body movement. The center carbon "crotch" piece doesn't bother me, but please do keep that piece in mind if you own a 6MT as I've heard that piece does become an issue for some with 3 pedals. I would highly recommend trying these seats out somewhere before you take the plunge. They are very expensive, and it would be a bad situation if you placed them in your car without first making sure they work for you. 3. Coding. You will need to code out the seats for the airbags/seat belt lights. This is a simple operation, just use a pro like kubax86. He had my seats coded and ready to go in 10 minutes and the process could not have gone better! Please be sure to check him out at: http://bimmer-remote.com for all your coding needs! Finally, please see below for the warning lights which will appear on your dash, and then how they look once kubax86 is done helping you. Last edited by NickyC; 08-31-2024 at 11:09 AM.. |

Seats look amazing and thanks for sharing all the info. That heated seat part is a tough pill to swallow as I'm aging and love that option lol. I sent AMX and email asking for pricing for Recaro's with heated seats, let's see what they say on pricing vs going this route. kubax is top notch, he's done coding on my car and was easy.
Enjoy man and I hope someone can figure out the heated seat portion. Did you figure out the passenger seat buttons? Study the seat and plug/wiring diagram on G82/F82 and see if you can reverse the wires to match the G82 seat movement.

Concerning the passenger seat buttons, I'm just going to leave as is. I don't think it's that big of a deal that the buttons are reversed, and with my luck I'll get in there and really break something. I'll just let any passengers who might ride in the car know the deal, and not think much more of it. Thanks again, keep us posted on the Recaro seats if you do in fact get a pair! |

They look amazing in the car and I find them pretty comfy, too. I'm 6'2 and had to jack the seat up a little bit in the G80/82s I've driven with the buckets in them. I do still think the bottom side bolsters are unnecessarily aggressive, and that the folding 997/991 CF buckets are the best seats ever.
10k for the pair I'm guessing? Why was the seller selling them?

Seller wasn't comfortable in the seats so bought a cheap pair of sofas then flipped these. There is literally no wear except for the tiniest amount on the driver's side bolster. There are no scratches in the leather, creases, and importantly no issues at all with the carbon backing. I think I found the best pair I could. Thanks! |

Did you disconnect your battery before swapping your seats? I believe that is what would cause an error for the airbags or system restraint.

No, but I'm sure the lights would blow up right away regardless as soon as you powered the car on. Seats need to be coded for the car anyway.
