Need opinion 2020 f82 cs or g82 2021
So. I’m looking to purchase a 2021 g82 m4 comp or a f82 cs 2020
Both similarly priced G82 is a little more I absolutely love the f82 - shape , lines , the cs with ceramic Breaks, the oled , the limited #s run - love the way the car feels driving it. I can live without the creature comforts if I have to - I feel it would be the happier option G82 …. Doesn’t wow me , it’s newer. More warranty , make more power packed with tech , Newer shape - Im torn bc Im just realizing the f82 shape is comming up on 10 years old now —- Want something that can possible be a classical car , good value etc While I know this is the f82 form. Wanted to hear some thoughts because I just can’t make this decision myself Going to post on the g82 form too !! Spend 2 weeks trying to make a decision |

CS, all the way. Take it from somebody who has owned both (and loves my present CS more and more each day). The only thing I'd take from the G82 are the carbon bucket seats. That....is....it.
F82 CS all the way. I can't go anywhere without somebody asking me about the car, thumbs up, honks, waves, cell phone cameras filming, people LOVE the car. The G82 I had? Nobody cared, and when I mean nobody, NOBODY. The car was invisible. Selling my 18 M4 Comp to buy that G82 was the worst car decision I have ever made. Don't be me. If you want to see my car, click my name and follow the link to my build thread. |

lol thanks for the reassurance. That Is exactly how I feel. And the direction I’m
Leaning towards . Keep going back and fourth Just for the main fact that. Will the f82 be irrelevant ? , is it really the last raw m car or will that go to the g82 ? (. I can’t see why tho ) |

Not really sure how a car could be "irrelevant". The car is whatever it is to you, and I love mine so much. |

that's good insight -- irrelevant as not as desired as say .... the e30 m3. e46 csl .. m1. ...heck even the 1m I get these are desirable cars, so maybe not AS at that level yet -- -, but .... a step down maybe ? |

In that case, I don't think the M4 CS will be as desirable. They were overpriced when new, and quite honestly many people don't even know they exist. I think you have to be a real hardcore fan of the car, somebody such as myself, to be willing to take the car on. I don't think it will hold a cherished spot in the hearts of BMW owners as those other cars, but who knows. Maybe as time goes by more and more people will realize just how special the cars are. All I know is, I do now and that's all that counts.

lol well, I hope it is desired later on, and yeah new it was way overpriced, if you look at it though, it wasn't the CF hood, the OLED tail lights CCB DCT limited # .... i mean. in all honestly. which highly desirable bmw wasn't over the top price-wise when they first came out? ... granted i think the GTS will take that first spot... idk. maybe I'm being delusional |

I think the fact the vast majority of the CS cars were leased speaks to how overpriced they were. Market talks. I think BMW missed the boat, they should have jumped the HP to just a few less than the GTS, kept the armrest and other creature comforts, and shaved some poundage elsewhere. As stated, I absolutely love my car, but shudder everytime I accidentally hit the rear window shade button and it deploys. In a car that was supposed to be about weight savings, why did that add that dumb thing? lol |

In the F8x section they will tell you that this one is better, in the G8x section that will be considered the best. As for being desirable, perhaps the F82 CS will be (who knows) but it is certain that the simple G82 certainly won't be. IMO F82 CS forever even if I have an F83 because I'm 68 years old and I use it instead of the motorbike that I can no longer ride.

F82 all day! We are a bit biased over here though. The lines on the car and every angle looked at, they look amazing. It may be going on a 10yr old design, but look at it this way, it’s still a better looking car than a majority of new cars on the road today. It’s aging well!
NickyC said it best, about the only thing we all would take from the G82 are the seats! |

I have both, 15 F82 base-6MT-modded, and 24 G82 comp-x-drive. From a performance, technological, and design perspective, I love and appreciate both in there own way. In the end, get what your heart tells you to rather than basing your decision on others biased opinion. Go on the G82 forums and ask the same question- you'll get the same old scenario but vice versa.

Every generation M car has its own 'last of'. The G8X will go down in history as the last ICE M3. The CS is a very good F series M, probably the best and I loved mine. But I would still get the G8X 6MT. Maybe I'm weird, but I give absolutely zero fucks about people looking, or commenting on my cars, or agreeing to my purchase, or whether my car purchase is 'relevant' or not. I buy them for myself. |

The F82 will be the only generation with a carbon fiber drive shaft and carbon fiber strut brace. LOL

So true. E30 was the last and only NA I4, e36 was the last and only US M car to not use a true S engine, e46 was the last NA I6, e9x was the last and only NA V8, f8x was the last to use a DCT, etc. As long as a model is still on the road it’s relevant to someone and even when they’re all relegated to a museum they are still relevant. Raw is subjective. I think an e46 is more raw than an e9x but I know people that believe the opposite is true. I believe the g8x is the least raw but if a g8x is someone’s first M car then they’ll say the g8x is the most raw M car. Every car enthusiast will have their own opinions on these things and there isn’t one single correct answer/opinion. |

Would I have an easier time selling the gorgeous f82 cs. Or the angry birds pig nose g82. I’m getting both. For basically the same price. So I’m torn on what direction to go. I get the whole. Don’t care what anyone says. And get the one I really prefer. ( the f82 cs ). But. I’m really concerned about if I’m over paying for a car that’s design is from 10 years ago 61k for a low mileage 2020 cs Melbourne red ( only 200 ever made in this color apparently ) Or. 64 k for a2021 g82 same mileage m4 comp |

I just went through a similar "conundrum"! Although, I'll admit I was heavily biased towards the M4CS and was digging for compelling reasons to for the G8x. I was heavily dissuaded by the front grille and the larger size. And that there was some buggyness of the first model year from my prior experience.
I came out of a 2016 M3 (built in 2015) and went for the 2019 M4 CS and absolutely love it. It seems like a very different car and much sharper and connected. I liked the subtle unique styling bits and the rawness of it as well. My M3 didn't have the executive package (or comp as it wasn't available yet), so I actually gained some of the bells and whistles and don't really miss the creature comforts. Not having storage is a bit nice as it creates less clutter. There are some minor quirks, but overall I feel like it's been a big upgrade. I personally felt the F8x would hold its place as an iconic car with a timeless design and having a "special" version of it would be cool. I love the look and feel of it all around over the G8x and have no regrets! Good luck and looking forward to seeing your outcome.

The DCT gearbox and much lighter kerb weight will always win for me for F82.
The fact that yours is a CS. Even more desirable Check this video how he put a customised arm rest in and added Alcantara roof liner etc 7 mins in to this video. m4 CS Stunning. |

Great comments from all! Here's Misha in round 2 with a nicely sorted CS. Just try not to pay too close attention to some of those Porsches which pass at lightspeed hah!

The F gen car is a beautiful design and it's hard to dismiss, but I feel your conundrum. A new car is a new car with new technology which moves faster than we can post here. Forget the keyboard racers here and drive both and pick what moves you.
The F series is from 2014, it's a dinosaur now. But the G series is a plastic surgery disaster.
