NBTevo iDrive display too dim in the daytime?
I have been periodically frustrated/confused my my NBTevo iDrive display dimming during the daytime. I remembered being able to adjust the brightness on the display in the settings menu, but in iDrive 6 that option disappeared and was replaced with only permitting a brightness adjustment at night. Why BMW changed that is beyond me.
Anyway, as you may or may not know, three is a coding solution to this. kubax86 just fixed this for me. Took 5 minutes. He changes the head unit parameter "dim_variant" from "new" to "old." After that, the general display brightness setting is available in the settings. The attached picture (which is not mine, I found it on the internet) illustrates the before and after difference.

In the head unit ECU, go to: HU_NBT2 - 3005 Display PIP Info - DIM_VARIANT Value will be set to NEW. Change the value to OLD. That's it! If, however, BimmerCode will not allow you to access your head unit, you should ask kubax86 to do it remotely for you. Took 5 minutes.

So I didn’t change much of it, overall it’s stock. The only thing that I did change was going from the split screen on everything to the full screen. I don’t know if that matters or not as nothing else was changed dramatically!
