Please tell me about the installation of the Wifi antenna.
Nice to meet you.
This may be difficult to understand as the text is from a translation software. Sorry. I recently purchased MY2021 F82. I wanted to use Apple Car Play, so I asked Mr. kubux86 to activate Apple Car Play for me. Mr. kubax86 explained everything very clearly and the activation went smoothly. However, the connection was unstable, so I checked the back of the audio system and found that the Wifi antenna was not installed. I am now waiting for the antenna to arrive. How do you guys install the wifi antenna? Is it ok to just put it in the back of the audio? Or do I need to pull it up to a higher position, such as the A pillar, to mount it? Please let me know. |

Just leave it back anywhere but make sure it’s an oem antenna because I tried an aftermarket one and it did not work

The OEM install does mean routing cable via console to area under front seat. Bit of a pain to do as console needs disassembly.
Used an aftermarket wifi aerial and tesa taped it to top of idrive. Have about a 15 meter range and don’t hear any emf coming through the idrive unit. It does however bring up a code saying wifi antenna missing. |

It sure is a pain to disassemble the center console. It looks ok and I would like to install it near the unit. Thanks for your comments. |

First picture shows my id4 antenna. That was 3m taped to back of HVac box just below the white label
Second pic is a stubby antenna, I taped that one to top of idrive due to its short length. This one does seem to raise a DTC code “wifi antenna not connected “ In either location there isn’t any issue with coverage in or around the car. |

I like the idea of using tape to affix it. I think I will use that tape too. Thank you very much. |

Forgot to say, wrap the execess cable length in Velcro or Tessa tape to avoid rattles behind idrive unit. Wouldn’t use cable ties on the thin antenna cable. Too easy to damage or pinch.
