2016 F80 Rear differential leak
I have seen a few posts on her where people have experienced an oil leak on their rear diff. I'm being quoted $1400 to fix the seals or $2000 to fix the seals and replace the bushing for the he rear diff.
Since I have read on here the theory that worn bushings were the root cause of the leaks I'm wondering if I should change the bushings as well?

They should be replaced if they are the original bushings because you have two liquid filled bushing on your MY ‘16 which are prone to failure. Doing the rear bushing and adding the rear diff support bracket at the same time is a good thing to do.

I’d recommend the latter. My right hand side diff seal was leaking. €1200 from bmw to fix(€900 covered under warranty) but I actually think it’s leaking again as I still have done drive train slack when coming on and off the throttle in a high gear at low rpm.
Next time I’m at tuner I might get him to fit dual mount bracket. Do you have any knocks or sounds from diff or box? |
