Look at that 335 that starts in the mid $40k range and you can quickly put $15k in options if you start checking too many boxes. 25-30% of your base cost in options isn't that hard but staggering if you think about it. That's why some of these car for car comparisons are almost apples to oranges when some come standard with more features.

I thought the S4 was bad with the options cost until I looked at BMW and Porsche.

I guess one should be happy with a $60K base price...

I guess those looking for a "respectable" total like my self, I should be happy with basic options...I seriously think Nav, PDC, rear view camera would be a good place to start...

Aftermarket options might be a better place for me in terms of brakes and tire upgrade...

If I can get my car in the high $60's to low $70's, I'll be very happy....

Less than $68K will make me extremely satisfied!

agreed. I loaded my e92 full up. I've become more minimalist over the years though, and I'm now favoring more of a stripper car. This time around, I’m probably getting premium package, heated seats and then the performance options (comp package, if available), but not much else. no cameras, parking aids, BMW apps (what a travesty), nav, etc. maybe premium sound will be needed though, since I won't have the S65 to listen to.

For fun I tried the minimalist approach, probably not that minimalist just the normal tech stuff, DCT, and stereo/heated front seats, but nothing too crazy. Price was around $70k, options add up crazy fast.

Yeh and on top of that, you're talking US price NOT Canada...so likely much more than $70K...

Sucks TBH but it's gonna be a beast...so might as well do it!

You have to pay to play. This is still a steal compared to any Porsche or Maserati product. For 85 to 90K you will get a kick ass luxury coupe with serious sporting potential. If that is too much, then wait for the M2, which should also be a serious performance machine, but at a better price. Not exact math, but it will do. Fully loaded E92 M3 was about 20% more than fully loaded E92 335i. So that puts a fully loaded M4 about low $80k vs a fully loaded 435i. Then add on ceramic brakes, minimum $6k (probably more). Near $90k for sure. Then there are all the carbon bits, that will probably fetch a hefty price tag.

fully loaded e92 was 77k. add ~6k bc premium for the new car (use the '13 335 to '14 435 as a comp for this). added 6k on the starting price

so were at 83k. + 10 for ceramics. 93k. + ~2k for any random new features that it might offer

This is what I don't understand. Everyone is complaining about the potential price of the M4, but then they add carbon ceramic brakes. WHY?! Do you actually need it? Let's say it's $8k. That's $8k out of $90k (that's the number people seem to be throwing out there) = 9% of total cost. For what? And do you really need B&O? That's another $4k right there. 2 options that will cost over $10k! I'm surprised that in this day and age, people will build a BMW and tick all options, and then be shocked at the end result. I can build a MINI Cooper S for $40k? But who's fault is that?

Not saying the M3/4 will be an affordable car by any means, but don't get carried away with options and it'd be a very different story IMHO.

mehr als 75K CAD base darf er nicht kosten hier in Canada. For 93 USD i will not buy an M4 thats for sure.

Fair enough. But why are people surprised that any BMW's fully loaded cost an arm and a leg? Then why aren't we comparing it to fully loaded a 991S, which would cost well over +$140k then?

That's how the Germans have always played the option game. I just don't think it's a realistic way to look at this, just IMHO.

E92 M3 Cabrio is 75,000 Euro in Germany.

So actually, 70,000 Euro for M4 seems to be very good. It tanslates to -around- $60.000 I would say.

Considering that the F10 M5 saw a $15k drop in price, about 12%, compared to the E60 here in Canada when it was introduced, I am hoping that the M4 will not increase too much for us Canadians.

i am sure that the base price in Canada for the F82 will be around 71 - 73K.
