I know they were doing individual paint at no charge, the comp package deal is news to me. Having driven the comp and non-zcp...I wouldn't count that as a buying motivator.

I doubt it'll be free. It could be standard, but they'll just raise the MSRP to account for it.
They make options standard every year and just raise the MSRP (driver assistance package, etc). |

Currently owning both, the ZCP is a major improvement and well worth the money. ZCP was announced two weeks after I placed the order for my M4 in February 2016 and I had the option to add it to my order, but decided not to, which I still regret. My wife's 2018 M3 is a ZCP.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe they did the exact same thing on the last generation M3. The ZCP was standard on the final production run. I believe the base price was increased as well but still remained cheaper than base+ZCP package.
