..you do raise a good point... I keep my cars a long time as well ... but I cherish the "integrated" look of navigation / car interface part of dash and not floating in air...

M4 looks great. Any speculation about price? Fully loaded will go to $85k?

All this kind of shit does is push me elsewhere.... I'm sure it will be nice but a 90k 3 series? What a joke. And no, my expectations don't change because BMW decided to change the numbering mechanism.

I am sure the price will be close to RS5 since M4 will be the closest competitor to it. The whole 4 series badge marketing will somewhat justify higher prices.... I am absolutely planning on ordering the new M4 but if a nicely optioned 2009-2010 CPO'd 911TT comes my way, I would most likely go for the 911 for that price.

$80k for an M4 is ludicrous. For that amount of money you can get some seriously awesome used metal such as a 997.1 GT3, 997.1 Turbo, 997.2 Carrera S or 4S, CLK63 Black series, Maser Granturismo, or Aston DB9 to name a few. Anybody spending $80K on a car shouldn't mind paying the maintenance on any of those cars. |

Guys, I think it is just wrong to compare new and used. You can compare that for you personal choice - do I get this car new or that car used? - but you can't use that as a factor for determining price of new car. 80K seams overpiced to you, but don't compare that with what you can get used, compare it with other new alternatives. At the end the price is, comparatively only, justified.
I might be the one spending 80K for "just" and M4. But that is the only BMW I would buy, an M car. Everything below is "too expensive". Think of a crap 420d that will cost 50K. WTF? For 80K you'd get a Porsche? If I don't have the money to get a Porsche Exclusive, I'm not buying a Porsche. You can't just compare prices of two cars, you have to compare prices of the cars configured as you want them. Then you can see the difference and which is worth. |

For $80K the vast majority of the 997.2 Carreras are certified pre-owned, which extends the warranty to 6 yrs or 100K miles, and for any other you can buy a 3rd party warranty for about $4k if you want to sleep better every night. If you don't have $4k to buy a warranty, you shouldn't be buying an $80K car. Even though I don't agree with you, I appreciate the fact that, like you, there are a lot of people (my dad included) that are willing to pay the premium to have the satisfaction of buying new. Thanks to this, people like me can keep finding awesome used cars. |

My local Porsche dealer just sold a well optioned CPO 2008 911TT with 3K miles for $83K. I am sure M4 will turn out to be a nice car but I still would not spend 90K for a M car when I get something very close to new at a discount. We will also have the very same problem when trying to sell used M4's...... No one is going to buy a used M4 (low miles) for 75-80K when there are 911's sitting out there.

Very well loaded m3s are easily in the $90s already. To sanity check myself I just jumped over to BMW north Scottsdale and pulled up the m3 in stock list....
I expect to see $100k for a very well loaded model. My m3 was about 80, and I left stuff off I wanted. ![]() |

Why is everyone crying over something that isn't even confirmed yet? And how many of you are going to order a fully optioned car anyway?
I know it's the internet but can't we at least wait until the car is launched before we start hating everything about it.. |
