100 unleaded vs 112 leaded

hey guys i have a 5 gal can of 100 octane unleaded ... car runs pretty good with it but i was going to try to mix some 112 leaded with it to up the octane ... besides the o2 sensors not liking it is there any other reason not to run leaded fuels in the f80?

It will also clog up your catalytic converters.

This. If you are catless you should be okay running it every once in a while. I would just stick to 100 unleaded personally

It will probably wreck your fuel system, most likely the injectors won't be able to handle the lead.

What will you be doing that you feel the need to run a leaded race fuel?

bad for cats.

if catless you can MIX it in but it takes its toll on O2 sensors overtime.

why not just run straight 100 unleaded?

Serious health risk for anyone breathing in the lead?

i can get leaded 112 or 110 locally from the pump ... i cant get anything decent unleaded locally i would have to travel to get ms109 ... i have 2.5 gal of sunoco 100unleaded left so i figured i would mix that with some 112 so i can turn it up ... i have downpipes so im not worried about the cats

While I personally love leaded gas, older cars run so much better on it, I have experienced lead fouling the plugs on a couple of Ducati's and an Aprilia I own. Symptoms were loss of power, made it feel like the clutch was slipping. So if you decide to use it on a cat-less car, I would suggest mixing it with unleaded, and avoid a steady diet of it. A straight tank full every so often should be OK, but don't run it exclusively. Smells awesome, but an expensive way to go. Just my 2 cents.

It's a controversial subject but with lead I'd be most concerned about the wide band O2's.

The lead in these leaded race fuels does help with detonation resistance, however, I wouldn't chance it on these advanced DI engines, such as the S55.

Lead can and will foul the Primary WBo2s', Secondary o2s' and even cause issues with the sensitive Direct Injection system the S55 uses. If you had cats, it can and will clog those as well. It's really not worth it if you can source a more appropriate fuel.

The reason I ask about what you'll be using the fuel for and why you felt the need to run such a fuel, is because you'll likely not reach the need to use such an extreme fuel in your S55, especially not at stock boost pressures/ stock tuning.

If you have access to E85, you'd be better off running an ethanol mixture.

^^^^ what he said. These engines are advanced. I ran 118 in a mr2 turbo highly modded all the time no issues but direct injection cars that have sensitive o2 sensors I wouldnt even try.

I can get 100 low lead at the local airport, run it in my bike, lawn mowers , my old truck. Anything without a cat,, no problem with plugs or o2 on the truck.. love the smell.. and it’s great for cleaning parts.. that pump gas stinks so bad..

But I wouldn’t run that in my M Car ,, My 2cents...

IM RUNNING A JB4 BUT USING AN E30 BLEND SEEMS TO BREAK UP BAD ON ANYTHING OVER 23LBS ... AND ANYTHING OVER 25LBS STARTS TO BREAK UP ON 100 UNLEADED ... THERE WAS A LARGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE E30 MIX AND 100 OCTANE, AND SINCE I HAVE A FEW CARS I NEED TO RUN OUTSIDE OF MY LOCAL AREA IN THE NEAR FUTURE, IM TRYING TO GET THE MOST POWER POSSIBLE OUT OF MY CAR FOR A FEW RUNS ... THE E30 MIX IS GREAT FOR JUST DRIVING AND PLAYING AROUND..
