RT660

I have R888R and they're really loud on the street, and scary in the wet.

Dry grip I believe the RT660 wouldn't lose out much to the other tires on your list, if at all.

Falken RT660 for the 19” sizes listed

Several of my friends, including those that drive to and from the track have, really like the RT660. Solid performance from a street-able DRY tire

I'm curious on your front fitment with the V3 coilovers if you do go for the 275/30 front RT660 because I'm wanting to do the same. You might think about having at least a 5 mm spacer on hand to clear the lower spring perch. You may not need it because the outside diameter might be small enough to give clearance but it could be close depending on your ride height!

My car with V3 coilovers at my 'normal' ride height, I can't fit a 10" wide +25 offset with a slightly narrower PS4S 285/35/19 tire (10" tread width/11.4" section/26.9 OD) without it physically hitting the purple plastic spring perch. I had to have 10" wide wheel with at least +20 offset to get any type of clearance. A 275/30 RT660 is a little wider (10.2" vs 10.0") than my 285/35 tire, but the tire profile theoretically would be 5/8" lower than my tire so it's possible it would clear without any issue.

Here is are two shots of clearance with 10" wide wheel with +20mm offset and a 285/35 PS4S.

Anyone have any experience, thoughts, or opinions about the Goodyear Eagle 1 Supercar 3 or 3R?

I have the Supercar 3 as a tire option to consider because it was the selected OE tire for the Camaro ZL1 / 1LE platform which is a RWD high torquing sports car similar to the F8x platform.

I did talk to a new ZL1 owner at the track this past weekend but he only has 1,500 miles on them and said he couldn't really give me a real review yet, but indicated his Supercar 3 (220 tw non-R compound) did take a while to heat up. They also looked "worn" with only just 1,500 miles on them when I inspected the tires on his car myself.

The other reason for having Supercar 3 on my list is because I so far have had very good experience with the Michelin Pilot Sports All Season 4 currently on my car, which is the chosen OE tire for the C8 Corvette platform, another RWD high torquing platform and following the train of thought of OE manufacturer's tire selection.

Any feedback of the Supercar 3 or 3R on the F8x platform would really be appreciated to help balance out my research and selection.

Having ran the Bridgestone RE71Rs with good experience in the past makes the Falken RT660 a natural choice but I want to be thorough in my research in terms of what else is out there.

If there is another tire that comes in 275/30/19 aside the PS4S or RT660 that I should consider, I'm all ears.

Thank you! 🙏

Yes, you bring up a great point and one I am concerned about as well.

I spoke with Apex on the phone about this and they suggested (and as you mentioned) a 5mm spacer ALONG WITH camber plates.

However, my performance shop (Performance Eurowerks) thinks camber plates are not necessary BUT do plan on having a range of wheel spacers of different sizes ready. I have sitting in my garage 3mm, 5mm, 7.5mm, 10mm, 12.5mm spacers ready to go so fingers crossed 🤞 everything works out.

We won't know if it will fit until both wheels & tires arrive for us to play around with.

Yeah, camber plates wont do anything to change inside tire to spring perch clearance since the whole wheel/knuckle/coilover moves as one rigid assembly, but camber plates will help you with outer tire to fender clearance if you require a thicker spacer to get your inner clearance correct. Only downside of that is you might not want that much front camber in the front for daily street driving.

I've got Vorshlag plates on top of my V3s. Street camber is -2.0 and track setting is -3.0 front. The least negative camber I can get with those camber plates is -2.0 (plate adjusted max outside position).

Post pics and measurements whet you get it all together!

I've been going back and forth about these two tires for the past month. Well today, I just pulled the trigger on the RT660 before they all go out of stock from the Apex group buy.

RT660 sizes: 265/35/19 and 295/35/19
VS-5RS sizes: 19x9.5 et22 and 19x10.5 et25

I used to have the Bridgestone RE71R and loved almost everything about the tire, but still made up my mind that I wouldn't do that tire again due to it's general NVH on the street. But now that it's out of production and the RT660 is being reviewed as a better tire in most metrics including road noise, I chose to give the RT660 a try.

In your specific case... 19x10 and 19x11, I think it all depends on what size you want to end up with on the wheels since both tires are fantastic and considered to "practically" be in the same class... Although the Supercar 3 seems to sit between the PS4S and the RT660.

PROS/CONS:

Goodyear F1 Supercar 3 - 265/35 + 305/30: The front tire's tread-width will be slightly more stretched compared to the blocky rear. It'll have the same diameter front to rear. The lack of diameter stagger may cause issues with traction control.

Falken RT660 - 275/30 + 305/30: The tire's section-width and tread-width will be much more proportional in their blockiness; no stretch front or rear. The diameter will have larger than OEM front to rear stagger -- albeit just slightly. This may cause some issues with traction control but not as much as no stagger. The downside, imo, is that the front tire's side wall is pretty thin. Some people like this, some don't.

But honestly, both tires are mega. I think you'll be happy with which ever one you choose.

So I was able to score some gently used Cup 2s in 305/30/19s for the rears for the apex VS-5RS Forgeline 19x11 ET44.

Now wondering which Cup 2 sizes to go with for the front wheels that are 19x10 ET25.

(A) 265/35/19 (per Apex fitment guide)

(B) 285/30/19

(C) 295/30/19

🤷

Ideally, the size would be 275/30/19. However, since there is no cup2 that size, 265/35/19 will probably be your best bet but will be a little bit stretched on the 19x10. Keep in mind there are like 5 versions of the 265/35/19 Cup2 -- so pick the right one.

Here are a couple pictures of what a PS4S in 265/35/19 on a 19x10 et17 wheel and -2.6 degrees of camber looks like. Keep in mind, the PS4S tread with is 0.1 inch wider than any of the Cup2. But they're close enough that they will essentially look like the same.

Cup2s don't come in 285/30/19 and 295/30/19 as far as I know.

Here are all 5 of the Cup2 265/35/19 specs. Obviously, don't do the Star BMW DT1 or the GTS version -- those will look super stretched. You'll want to go with the Star BMW M2 DT, MO Mercedes, or MO1 Mercedes. Those will get you closest to the fitment of my wheel+PS4S set up (pic above).

Going to be running Cup 2s all around once the APEX 19" forged wheels arrive and we'll see how that goes.

Apex VS-5RS:
19x10 ET 25
285/30/19 ZP (run flats)
19x11 ET44
305/30/19

Learned that some of the C7 Z06 front OE tire was a 285/30/19 ZP while the rear was a beefy 335/30/20 (or something similar) … I was able to procure some 285s over the weekend. From a Chevrolet dealership 😎

Supercar 3 is your best choice
- in the street they are not noisy
- on the track they last and tolerate the heat of a track session , they are super sticky

The rt 660, from what i read are sticky but it's more an auto x tire, get up to temp fast but not ideal for track session since they do not tolerate heat of a 20 minutes session

The r888 are noisy in the street, mixed reviews about track performance.

Cup2 are great but in my mind, not worth the extra money over the supercar 3.

I absolutely loved my supercar 3 but get an amazing deal on a set of cup 2 ( same price as supercar 3 so i take them for this year)

To each is own opinion, they are all good but I'm pretty sure you'll be super happy with the cup 2 or the supercar 3 next time

The new yokohama advan ad09 is coming in North America, I'll try them for my next set next year, it's nice to have new options

R888R is old news and dangerous in the rain, super noisy, they're just awful tires based on my own experience (less grip than Cup2 on the track after 3 sessions). Another issue with R888R is it gives you 0 warning before grip drops off like a cliff.

If this isn't your dedicated track setup, then go RT660, it's very good in the rain and better traction than R888R for track. My dedicated track setup is 3R, they last about 12 heat cycles (2.5 track weekends and every heat cycle is when tires hit above 160 degrees and cooled down below 120), they're the best tires you can get before going full slicks IMO. 3R is too noisy for daily, especially after a track weekend of heat cycle.

Agree with @x.shell , ideal size for your car is 265/35/19 front and 295/35/19 rear (or even 295/30/20 if you want to run 19/20). Cup2 is great for track on Sunday and drive to the office Monday tire. No suspension clearance issues, no rub, fills the fender nicely, and closely match OEM OD ratio = no computer intervention at high speed.

Related question, can I fit 285/30/20 supercar 3's on the stock 666m fronts? There's no 265/275 options to fit on the front 20".

No you can't
Oem 666m are only 9 inch wide
285 is too wide for 9 inch wheels

By the tire specs, Rim width range for 285/30/20 is 9.5-10.5

Im looking to try a pair of these 285 cups. Is that a brand new pair you sourced from Chevy or a used pair? Have been looking for a 285/30/19 cup tire.
How did it meet your expectations?

Local Chevy Dealership. $630 per tire and run flats. They fit perfectly with my setup and I can push the car through an apex with no hesitation and I feel my braking has drastically improved.
