Another funny bit was the engine bay saying 'bmw spent all this time reducing weight, but then its got an aluminum strut brace instead of a carbon one like the last m3'.

at least the seats are proper now. no power assist.
There's not a huge difference in weight savings between aluminum and carbon fiber. The difference between Porsche's aluminum roof and the carbon fiber roof is about 3 lbs. It's not that significant…..and it's surely less significant with strut braces.

I see zero technological innovation/showcase, unlike every other GTS/CSL models prior to this.

Showcase of ultimate cost cutting is what I see.

Nope, that’s his and his garage/workspace. He had a Toyota V-6 installed in it and is a manual! Very very cool car.

There is just something intriguing about the GT350! I find myself looking at these more and more often on various car sites. My son is currently driving an 03 Mach 1 and that exhaust note takes me back to when I had my 95 Cobra. Below are some images of his car after he got it and we detailed it. Sealed it with GTechniq Crystal Serum and Exo.
That is one gorgeous Mach1. Some great taste, and I'm sure the exhaust is fantastic.

Still with the cow udder exhaust, JHC.

Taillights are interesting, but don't wow me like the first time I saw the OLEDs.

Hopefully they'll make a grill similar to that standard on the LCI models.

Can you call it cost cutting when they are going to ask an obscene six figures plus for this thing………….that can’t even beat an aging platform like the ZL1 1LE around the ring?

true. but they are trying to save 400 grams with laser tails and charging insane money. the least they can do is save some more weight in the engine bay and make it look a little cooler at the same time.

Cost cutting in manufacturing, never said they cut the price for the offered goods.

It’s called shrinkflation… decontenting a product or reducing its size to reduce costs at the same price point.

Food manufacturers are notorious for this. Charge the same while reducing the amount in the package etc.

My general thoughts on the CSL (in no particular order):

- Very fast around the 'ring, right where I thought it would be. Mischa from Apex hinted it was a 7:20. People who thought it would push 7:00 min on the G8X forum have been brought back down to earth. I do wonder how much of the time improvement was the Cup 2 R? 2 seconds? 4 seconds? 6 seconds? Someone should get every generation of M3 together and run the 'ring with the same compound.
- It looks to me that CSL is NOT meant to be a direct GTS replacement, re-reading the BMW marketing around this car and also seeing the released photos this looks more like a CS+ than a GTS. That's probably a good thing because the GTS badge usually means something very uncompromising to the casual buyer and journalist that can't appreciate what it's meant to do.
- Lost 100kgs, nice! BMW is still doing the M5CS thing where they include CCBs as weight savings...
- I imagine the CCBs will be a take-off/swap item for anyone who actually uses this car as intended
- Frozen BG? Really? Couldn't roll out a dedicated color for this? I might forgive BMW for this if I didn't know that they have such a deep/expansive roster of incredible colors.
- Red pinstriping is tacky as all heck
- I like the tone that BMW is setting with this marketing campaign so far. Enough with the gen z attention seeking, seizure inducing bullsh*t. Make it about the cars... that's why we buy BMW products.
Wasn't there a PowerPoint slide, depicting the hierarchy of BMW AG and M GmbH models? In it, GTS stood above CSL. Can't find it now. Maybe I'm wrong.

But true to CSL models of the past - of which there just two, though - the M4 is again a 'Clubsport' car, not a hardcore toy with very limited ability to be daily driven.

I was expecting a height-adjustable spring kit to be standard, or an optional coilover system with adjustable top mounts since this is aimed at the type of clientele that would appreciate extra adjustability. And they've got a deal with KW as well.

Yep. 170grams of bacon package was reduced to 150 then 120 in the span of 4 months and the same time got 7minor price increases

It's good business because people don't pay attention and buy on habit.

The only positive I have to say about the exterior of the CSL is the fact the rear laser lights look cool, but at the same time the CS/GTS ones looks cooler to me with the flower spread design.

CSL ones are miles better than the stock ones for sure, stupid laser warning sorta ruins the cleanliness of them however.

I honestly couldn't give less of a fuck about some night-time light signatures or whatever they like to call it these days. I would be a happier man if I could have yellow DRLs on mine, though, like in the good ol' E9x days.

Just checked the German configurator. Can delete some of the Scat Pack decals kit, but Laser lights are optional... Lame. Comfort Access, which M3/4 CS didn't have, is available, for those who care.

Spec for spec - or as close as it gets - roughly sub-€50k price delta between M4 Competition and M4 CSL. Not totally awful. And I'm sure it'll be one hell of a drive.

I remember that presentation, it stated that the CSL essentially replaces the GTS moniker. It went somthing like this:

CSL: Born for the track but still street legal
CS: Optimized for the track
Comp: Street and track capable with enhanced performance
Bas: Street and track capable

I'll try to dig it out. Is seems that they have toned down what they intended for the CSL...
