I wasn't thinking about any of the other models in terms of Motorsport edition since most people on this forum would not own those. |

This is awesome that BMW offers this now. Especially pleased with the light gray calipers. Will look awesome with MG and black wheels. Only I'll paint the 'M' black. Now I'm not upset about passing on CCBs. I can do a retrofit with the gray calipers.

So who’s going to be first to do this retrofit?
The F8x platform comes with decent looking caliper front and rear albeit they’re a tad small based on appearance. It’s just the blue color doesn’t look appealing. Plus for those that track their cars, it turns green anyways so I wonder why they decided on blue and not red/yellow/grey like other OEM Brembos on other performance cars. |

No fade at the track, and this includes tracks with long front straights (Miller in Utah, Pueblo Motorsports park) as well as shorter, tighter courses (La Junta, PPIR). The long courses included full on braking from ~160 mph down to about 60 mph going into turn 1. Edit: PFC-08 front and back for track brakes

I use Pagid RS29 on an otherwise completely stock brake system. I do 16 to 20 track days per season and I have run track that can be pretty hard on brakes. I never had brake fade issues with my M4.

I just did pads on my '15 CCB car also as a preventative measure to minimize wear on the rotors.
I see you mention that you're still in warranty/maintenance - were your CCB pads covered by that? Mine were not. My mileage is about half of yours but track days about the same. I noticed after 5 days my pads still looked new. Then after a 2 day weekend the fronts looked like they lost half of their thickness - did the swap asap after that weekend. My tech agreed after getting the pads off of the car - said rears were in good shape still but fronts were at or a little less than 50% left. Had alignment done also, car now feels so much better. Alignment was definitely off, particularly rear toe (Thanks kerbing!). If the kit is determined to be PnP, I'll pick up the steel rotors sometime before next year events start up and put my 24k mile CCB rotors in boxes for the future... Quote:

Can you explain the USAA statement better? I don't understand the quote, 4 years, up to 100k miles and -8500 dollars - just lost a little bit here. On the pads/rotors. Good job getting them weighed, but even that can be misleading due to pad material buildup and the low total wear margins. You do the pads early to avoid degradation of the rotor is my understanding - yes running costs are not low, but they're excellent brakes. What made the instructor say you might need to do the rotors? Also - Wondering what your pads looked like compared to new ones when the rotors were weighed - and how much track use? It sounds like you did no notable wear to the rotors - if that's through half of the pads and 6 or 8 days, that's excellent to hear. This case would follow the logic of; do pads at 50% material to minimize rotor wear.

Also, with regard to the talk around the servo's - I think that its not something to be concerned about as the servo is only changed if you have CCB's. These are regular iron rotors - so doubt the M2 comp will be getting a servo upgrade when spec'd with the 2NH package.
Unless I've missed some comms to that effect? The piston sizes between the 6 pot / 4 pot and 4 pot / 2 pot is very similar as we have seen from info posted elsewhere by Racing Brake. Master cylinders are also the same between cars with the 4 pots / 2 pots and the cars with the CCB's. |

Why wait - Cotswolds quoting ~ £1370 all in for 400/380 discs and pads and are able to source them quickly from factory - you then need the CCB calipers....

only the discs and pads? Will the pads fit into the gold CCB calipers from the F8X? Are the sizes of the discs identical with the ceramics? that would be the best retrofit for annoyed CCB owners. |
