Get the MPE fitted. Had mine 2 weeks. You won't be disappointed.

Interesting views as always Guy, thanks for taking the time to do this as I've always been keen to hear opinions of the CP vs a newer gen non CP car.

I think that dare I say it here that both parties are make valid points in the "comfort" debate.......

Comfort is indeed a personal opinion however defining what constitutes a comfortable ride is much less so.

For example if you asked 100 people to say which mattress was more comfortable to them of a hard vs medium vs soft you'd get a wide variation in response because some prefer softer or firmer etc

However if you put 100 people into different cars eg a focus, mid sized Jaguar (not up on my models there ) or an Atom, and asked which has the most comfortable ride I suspect the majority would be pointing at the Jag.....
People expect certain things if you tell them a car has a comfortable ride, therefore it is a more defined thing and much less subjective IMHO.

So peace keeping moment over with lets move on and look forward to some more comparisons

To be honest Ade I've given up and gone back to burying my head in work. At some point I'll get the video done but I have had my fill of it for this week.

I think you are right - everyone's perception of what constitutes comfort is a personal thing.

But back in my car today after the whole debate last night (not just on here), there's no question it's firmer than the yellow car I drove yesterday and it is less forgiving. That suits me fine, as I still believe in isolation it's still more than acceptable and no-one who has ordered a CP and not driven one should be concerned. In fact I think our Mini Cooper SD in the office (which I've just driven up to shops to get some milk!) has a much worse ride and let's not get started on older BMW's with runflats.

So everything IS relative and what I did was compare my car relative to another that I drove. Just a bit fed up with people telling me things based on different cars and not the two that I drove. I have no issue with someone going in both the same cars and disagreeing with me. As it was, I drove around yesterday with two film guys in the back and they both agreed that mine felt firmer and more tied down. So it wasn't just me.

I can't really comment on the findings in the States except to say that Nick's car hasn't had any firmware updates that he has reported and we know that BMW have made some improvements to damping control. Guys over on Cutters have noticed several improvements (this being one but also better gearbox changes, better MPG, better TC).

It's all a bit academic for me as I change to coilovers on Monday anyway but I'm damned if I am going to bother trying to explain that one in detail.

Right, back to work and then FOS tomorrow

Yep agreed, what people look for in a car is completely different to defining a comfortable ride. While some might prefer the sportier feel when a car is firmer and others a softer sprung car for luxury travel etc is a different argument to the ride comfort IMHO.

I'd be very interested in your feedback regarding the ACS dampers though have you driven a car with them fitted on the stock 19" wheels and tyres? I'm curious if that would make much of a difference. Their demo car had 20"s on didn't it? and the CP will have too.
I'm still grappling with what to do with mine. One minute I'm thinking springs will be ok and the next I'm thinking if I'm going to invest I may as well go coilovers.....

I think i'll have a good chat to some folks at FoS on Saturday and see if that helps.... From the look of the weather forcast for Saturday not much else will be happening

It's all very subjective and I don't think we should get too upset if someone disagrees after all this is the internet!

I'm going through a stage where my car doesn't feel quick anymore and seems to have changed in the way it feels, all very odd.

Enjoyable reading as always Guy, thanks

One question. I don't see many M3/4's with MP side sills, are the M3/4 sills different to the std f3/8x cars and hence the fitting different?

No side sills for the M3 only M4, I think they're overkill on the M4 TBH.

Look forward to your next video Guy, I still have chance to change my order, and will take on board your comments, as well as the other forum members.
I had an extended test drive in a 16 plate non CP M3, and thought it was much improved over an early early 15 that I have been a passenger in. Whatever BMW done with the firmware seems like it was a very positive upgrade.
I have a MW on order, but I still think your car looks awesome! These forums are making me more indecisive by the day, arrgh lol.

me as well, dont get me wrong its fast but rarely has enough power to put an uncontrollable grin on my face. i want a JB4 but wary of warrenty issues. ACS may be the way to go but at something like 2.5K+ cant justify the cost.

i guess we are just getting used to our cars and what initially seemed fast now seems "normal".

I guess coming from an M5 and having a 911 turbo in the garage wont help this issue much M5essex lol

yes you will lose this and replace it with exactly the same thing only LOUDER! mine sets off car alarms with valves open when cold and the lift off pops (farts) are brutally loud. get an MPE, as someone else mentioned you will not regret it.

try >3,500 for the ACS power kit.. i'm not sure I can justify it either, when its likely to only be another 50hp over my CP. the extra torque is noticeable mid-range though, but not 3,500 noticeable...

you're right Jimbo I doesn't help coming from M5 and TTS but I suppose I initially only wanted my daily drive to be 'sporty' and practical, not hyper and scary... but now I do want my M3 to be a bit hyper/scary and give me that perma-grin you mentioned.

i'm just a nob and not satisfied with things for very long.

I think we all just get used to power very soon and yearn for more. i'm just not sure though when enough power is enough..

I drove the Porsche in today and boy that feels very quick. but i'm used to that power now and want to slap a tune on as well

I need help
