Lol...just terrible. Being the so called ultimate driving machine, it should sound good anywhere, even in a garage and even when recorded on a supposedly crappy phone.

Oh well, they are going to input fake engine/exhaust sounds in the cabin through the speakers anyways to make you feel like you are getting your money's worth.

Thumbs up

The clip was recorded with a phone (likely of poor quality) and in an enclosed garage on a stone cold cranky inline 6. Of course it would sound like dung!

Listen to all of the available S55 clips and then this recent one that Jason posted.

Which one doesn't sound like the others?

Off topic but definitely in scope here: Why is every thread in here filled with current E9X owners lamenting the loss of the V8, adding turdbros, and "but, but listen to this youtube clip"??

This F80/82 M3/4 forum seems to have collated the same forum hysteria we read in 2007 when the blasphemous BMW engineers decided put a V8 in the E9X M3. How dare they stray from the inline 6 (or the S14) ! Look back today, and the car turned out just fine (save a few porky pounds).

The S55 and the F80/2 will be a hit. Patience.

I hope your right. I still think the V8 wil always sound better. The overall car will be great though.

Why are people using the garage as an excuse? If anything it should have helped it sound better. Exhaust videos shot in parking garages are always louder and artificially enhanced. Not the other way around.

To me it seems as if everything in BMW's line up is getting soft and so mainstream with their M stuff that it BMW should stand for Bland Motor Works.

This car doesn't seem to evoke any passion so far. The video with the E92 M3 and MPE exhaust makes me want to go and buy another one and I already had 2.

F80 M3 not so much

Come on!!! It will sound so much better than that!! It's inside, a crappy phone vid, it may not even be production exhaust because it had e92 19 inch wheels on it.

Reading the comments here I want to gouge my eyes out. The stupidity is enormous. They say the same shit every damn generation. This car will probably be a brutal track monster, and will destroy the E9x M3. I'm an E92 M3 owner, I absolutely love the S65, but I'm very much looking forward to rinsing the new F80 on the track. It sounds great, and the exterior looks leagues better than the E9x ever did, AND I OWN ONE.

BMW Marketing would NEVER allow this video to be released as a teaser. It sounds terrible!! They're not deaf idiots....

Lol, after reading the subject line with sounding raucous and Jason's warning that the garage will amplify the sound I was expecting to hear a raw, über loud metallic race note. I listened this morning and appreciated a good laugh. I'm still waiting for the punch line of this joke though. It's a joke right, right...please?

3. If you pay attention to the other sounds you hear (i.e. clutch engaging flywheel, gear changes) you can hear how totally out of whack that audio is in terms of what frequencies it's picking up strongly vs. what it's not hearing.
