This is what the EEP ones look like (not my pic, just from the internet)

Just a data point. The H2M CBC uses oem bolts just longer ones. Here is my install for reference and pictures.

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=29681766

Not debating what is better but I opted for this CBC as the bolts were the same as oem.

Based on new info I got last night KPF are produced in either Korea or Vietnam. There is no way to tell unless you see the container they came in.

Well if people really are confusing inch/ lbs and ft/lbs when torquing the bolts that is a huge problem. My guess is this isn’t all that’s happeneing here though

PS: I plan to buy ARP bolts direct from ARP to replace the ones that came in my kit

Im going to check mine from time to time but i wont dare try to remove them to replace... There is gonna be a higher chance to shearing them during removal... Ill cross that road if i find a bolt head sheared off... I did my own install, used red loctite and torqued them to spec. I think it was around 25lbs.

For all we know, the installers of some of the failures could have torqued them down more than they shouldve.
I'm going to check on mine next time i have the car in the air, but i used blue loctite torqued to 25ft/lbs.

This thread has me worried. Mines not my daily, so I'm not overly concerned since it hasn't been on my car very long. If i find it's moved even the slightest, i'm going to get new oem bolts and take the CBC off.

I'd like to hear from VTT though..

I just looked at mine and it doesn’t seems to have moved, but the bolts are getting rusty and I haven’t even driven in the rain.

Ok the bolts are definitely 8x1.25 (8 qty). As far as length, I would highly advise on verifying your own. I have a precision dynamics hub along with a Kies CBC plate. On this particular combo, the bolts included with the CBC were 35mm underhead length. Since this thread is more focused on the VTT plate, I would measure those if using that plate. Thread depth on the hub is 21mm and the exposed thread length on the stacked CBC is 22mm. That tells me I need to add a washer under each bolt to make sure the bolts don’t bottom out. Kies does include a single 8-hole washer with the plate, but I need a little more room to torque

Here’s a link to the ARP page for the correct thread bolt in variety of lengths with part numbers for both 6 and 12 point heads and stainless/chrome moly options

Good luck!

Overtghtening bolts is typically what causes bolts to shear...

If the instructions say in/lb...OMFG which is not going to keep this connected w/o moving, NO WONDER this is moving. That is nearly 3Nm!! That isn't even hand tight!! VARGUS kUaLiTy... gud luc wit dat! That should be 25ft/lb! As in the immortal words of Ozzy Man, that is destination fucked! I'm going to be all day on this one.

They don't.... the only "official" instructions for the CBC from VTT that I've seen are buried within their spline lock install sheet at the end, but it does say 25 ft-lb

CBC doesn’t really do anything , their spline lock is definitely the best crankhub solution , my 4 pin practically failed.

These are definitely stress failures,
When my bolts snapped off they were replaced with oem ones.

You can look up those bolts they are manufactured by a company called McCmaster carr out of Illinois and I don’t belive they have the strength that oem bolts do.

Care to elaborate on the 4 pin issue? Who made it, how long it is was in the car, what the failure looked like and/or any other information you can provide. Very interested as I have not heard of any pinned hub failing.
