I really liked the E63 AMG Estate but its just too expensive. I hear they are coming out with a C63 AMG Estate and cabriolet. Should be interesting but the lack of 6MT is putting me off

Having visited the Geneva Motorshow, I am far from convinced on the look of the new C-Class both inside and outside, overly detailed ala Audi. Ten weeks to go to the new arrival and I cannot wait. The hardest decision was colour but that is a debate for another thread.....
You are gonna loose a lot on the MB 507 I would keep it and wait for a second hand F80 M3 so you can have best of both worlds.

I can't remember a Benz I really liked except for being passenger in the S-Klasse but it's very impressive what they've done in F1 this year. Their engine easily upstaging the mighty Ferrari and everyone else. It's said that they've been able to convert innovation and knowledge from the AMG road car division to be so dominant this year.

That deserves respect and good things to come in terms of hybrids and turbo technology from AMG. Hopefully they'll come up with a design I can feel good in down the road, this new C-class however isn't it unfortunately.

The weight is heavy (in a good way) and consistent, regardless of what setting the car is in. You can really feel what the front wheels/tires are experiencing through the steering system. Turn-in is almost telepathic.

Both cars will oversteer on command but you can reel the E90 M3 back in with a bit more grace and precision. The C63, with its extra weight, snaps back a bit more violently.

The MCT is pretty good in all of the automatic modes (especially when just cruising in the city) but the DCT is better in M mode. It's just flat-out quicker at executing upshifts and downshifts.
I agree with you, the c63s steering is def a bit better than our M3s is. Ive driven both on and off the track and the C63 has that advantage over the M3. It still isn't quite AS composed, but it was never meant to be. IMO, if you're talking about the M3, ISF, C63 and RS5, 99.999% of people will be faster in the RS5 on a back road or the track. In a straight the C63 def has it on them all with traps around 117 mph which is neck and neck with the 991S and C7 Vette.

Agreed on all points.

And you're absolutely right about the section I put in bold. A well-sorted AWD system can be very confidence-inspiring.

MAC
The current "standard" C63 has 451 horsepower. The W205 will receive a healthy power bump to around 480+ hp.

Correct. These are the numbers most frequently mentioned when discussing the W205 C63.

The 2 really don't compare directly. The one with the V8 will likely have quite a bit more horsepower and will do well in a straight line. The new m3/m4 will go back to a 6 cylinder though with new turbo's. If it is at all a reflection of BMW's heritage and focus, it will be have much better balance and composure on the twists and turns of the road and track.
We'll see. The W205 is going to be losing weight as well (more high-strength aluminum over steel, 4.0L biturbo V8 replacing the monstrous 6.2L NA V8, CCBs will be offered for the first time on the C63, etc.).

And as I've stated before, the LCI W204 C63 is 4 seconds faster than the E9X M3 around the 'ring.

W204 C63: 8:01.00

E9X M3: 8:05.00

That said, in the hands of the average driver, I'm confident that the M3 would be the easier car to drive faster because of its lower weight and lower power output.

Regardless, once the LCI C63 debuted, the driving dynamics gap between the two cars narrowed quite a bit. While the LCI M3 received exterior/interior cosmetic tweaks, the LCI C63 received a new suspension, transmission, the first generation of the "agility select" control knob (C, S, S+, M, RS), revised cooling, and some exterior/interior cosmetic tweaks.

I know right? We don't need a Black Series to rock the flairs!

So weird, Merc bounces between insanely blinged out AMGs and relatively standard looking models. I thought the last one was too much boy racer chrome and now this one isn't boy racer enough. . . Granted its still mostly covered up, I think we still have a good idea of the overall shape and the lack of flares etc. Perhaps I'll be wrong upon removal of the camo, but only time will tell.

I don't think this looks too "boy racer." I think it's kind of a sleeper. But I admit, I'm biased.

Damn, this would have been a good way to spend the evening. You even used the right words to start me off. Unfortunately, could you please check out that idiot in the ot? I'm for ones in the right place to post, but he's pissing me off in a wrong way. and now I'm ratting on him. Which he will like.

This picture was taken from a wrong angle, cause I couldn't come up with anything quick to complain. Mercs do front shots the worst, so next time post one of those. (bmw rears give me the right to mention this).

That's what I'm talking about! The front is just wrong. It has the expression of a Whale shark, which as a plankton eater is not a dangerous look.

As soon as I take over the world, chrome is the second thing I ban all together. It just makes everything look like a rapper with a vocabulary worse than mine, and somehow I stop looking at all the details after the first shiny detail catches my eye. I freely admit that this is due to my time spend in Audi dealers last spring, before that I don't think I ever noticed one way or the other. After seeing them it quickly made my hate lists top.

The side shot looks good. I may have to go so far as to say, that Merc has hired a designer with eyes. That car will age well, and that is something BMW, and audi can not claim with their later products. The words boy racer can not be linked to that, which is a shame, cause I had the time to spend on the keyboard and that always is an endless and fun thing thing to start shredding with.

The old five series has an expression I see in kids parks everyday in the faces of the botox crew. Audi has gone a different bath, which is so bad one just hopes there is a horrible crash that will take them off the roads. I have been watching the almost shine free Q7 for 3 months now, and I have found nothing likeable about that, so I think the light bulb in the garage has to go soon.

In the matters of taste, my disclaimer has been the Jack Russell earlier, but this time I will use even more powerful one, and mention that I have not had my coffee yet.

Haha! Thank you for the kind words. I'm by no means a photographer (as evidenced by the photo); I'm just lucky to fit what I want into the frame without my thumb in the photo.

Oh, and many thanks for alerting me about the problem in OT. We get some crazies from time to time.

I think you'd prefer the 507 Edition - all chrome pieces are blacked out (matte black) from the factory:

I think your version was better, the blacked out looks like a goth after discovery of mascara and eyeliner. That's just as wrong as chrome overdose, maybe even worse since that just reminds one of the teenagers trying to be different and not quite making it. Of course I never was one, so I would not know what I'm talking about...

I'm quite happy about the fact that there is no perfect car anywhere, I wouldn't have anything to pick on then.

The weirdo. Well, I know one should not feed trolls, but I was bored ones again. Sorry for that, and I hope you can block him better, since he is really out of it.

You've got a knack for the analogies. Always fun to read. I think you'd make for a very entertaining auto journalist.

And regarding the troll, yes, he was on a mission. Although you wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've seen on here over the years. I don't think I can even openly mention some of the worst incidents.

Haha, I was going to be a war correspondent, till I realized I really suck at talking to people in a serious manner. I think the administrations of different countries would have banned me in seconds. As for cars, it's really easy to form opinions as long as you don't know what you are talking about. there is only two ways to handle this subject, and the other is not the popular one but the informative one, and the rest of the journalists fall to the same fault as I, when insecure, come up with a joke. I'm willing to ge you my opinion on just about any vehicle on the road in the future also, as long as I can avoid facts, figures, and stay on the metric system. I swear I will never know how you guys handle the yards and such.

I would love to read the banned archive. I think that's the route I'm headed since I never stay on topic. Sad but sad.
