Turbo Leak F80 M3

Hi Guys,

I am new to here and i am just about to purchase a 2017 BMW M3 LCI from a private seller.

The car has only done around 20,000 km and i got my mechanic to check and he mentioned that everything is fine except that there might be a slight turbo leak and he found some when he checked.

He tells me it is very common for these cars to have a slight turbo leak.

Is this correct? Should i be worried?

Would really appreciate some feed back.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

Not sure what he means by a turbo leak, if it's a boost leak then it could be a failed chargepipe I guess. Is the car stock or modded? If he tells you this is common on these cars then maybe you should look for a new mechanic

Thank you ! appreciate it!

So the guy is saying its slight boost leak and a slight amount of oil has come out with the moisture out of the turbo. He is saying every turbo car has this slightly and they dont mention it but he thought he would.
He has confirmed there is nothing wrong with the charge pipe. Car is completely stock as well.

Should i be worried?

You're fine. It's called blow by, some people install an oil catch can.

OP - FYI, there are two turbochargers on the S55 engine. Oil vapor blow-by is greatly reduced on the S55 as compared to earlier BMW turbo engines, but is normal on forced-induction setups.
