Really does sound like a V6, especially at idle. Of course there isn't much to hear thanks to good ol turbos. But my bet's on an S63-based TT V6.

1) I don't understand why BMW adds LED lights in the LCI of its 3-series, but then removes them when the next generation is introduced. This is third time it's pulled that stunt.

2) If the F80 LCI doesn't include a refreshed front end, that means there will be no chance for LED signals up front until the F80 successor.
I know. I really hate when they do that. Basically they go back to using old tech so they have stuff for the LCI model.

Even with the camo on, you can just tell that its going to be a hot car, from the stance, fender flars, wheels and so on. Can not wait to see the final product! Its going to be a very attractive M3

No question that is a V-6 from the engine note. I'm sure it will be a powerhouse and I think it makes more sense than using the n55 as a starting point.. But the note is probably going to be closer to a mid-90s GM than I would like! Side note, those wheels look outstanding

A 90 degree V6 layout is reminiscent of GM engines from the 70's, 80's and 90's, but being a BMW the sound seems a bit better than those.

how far do we think this is off from official debut and then us sales? - i mean it seems pretty much production ready if its already done this much winter testing.

The proportions look really good on it, as far as I can tell...

Maybe it's just with the cameo and my eyes, but I think the proportions are better balanced in the front and rear than on the F30 and even F30 M-Sport.

It will debut sometime in 2013, probably second half. So it is only just a over a year from completion. However, European sales won't start until sometime after that, with US sales not likely until early 2014 (see F10 M5 staggered rollout schedule for a comparison).

Not sure about that, but I will point out that the F80 M3 will be here more than a year closer to the F30 3 series launch than the E90 M3 was to the E90 3 series launch.

About sound you can get alot diffrent exhaust sound depending on how you route the exhaust pipes for example single pipe, two to one,two side by side, two side by side connected by an X ect.
And also how the exhaust manifolds are routed to the turbochargers.

All i want to say is that just because it is a I6 or V6 it doesnt have to sound a certain way.
And i guess BMW test some diffrent combinations.

As it has the typical inverted M trapezoidal mouth as opposed to the otherway round on the M Sport I would say M6 coupe. The roof has the same contours as the M6 and its officially released too hence no camouflage?

However is the third car an M6 Gran Coupe mule?

I do not understand. So it is still an I6? How can it have 3.3l if it is based on the N55?

What's an R6? Do you have any other impressions of the car? Was it camouflaged? Spill the beans, sir.

R6 is german for I6. I don't get how from 3.0l I6 vs 3.3l V6 we ended up with a 3.3l I6.

N55 bored or stroked by 50cc per cylinder?
