Yeah, he likes the car well enough to consider leasing one because it fits his needs so well. He'd be yet another auto journo who got one, which tells something...
He also got roasted in the youtube comments for his contention that the car is "disposable". It's the opposite of that, given that it gets better over time... |

the e46 had an inline 6, the e92 had a v8 and the last NA, this f80 might be the last RWD M3. the next tesla 3 will be an improvement in every way over the current car. battery tech is only going to improve. I can't see any reason someone will want to hold on to it other than saving money.

At least the Model 3’s UI/tech/capability will be updated to keep it current, unlike virtually every ICE vehicle currently on sale. |

We all saw the e90 to f30 dumb down that bmw did, and I hope it doesn’t happen but it is possible Tesla does the same thing in pursuit of more sales from mainstream non enthusiast owners. That will cause owners like me to definitely keep the current car. If it becomes FSD, the rationale for getting the next gen goes way down anyway. Personally, the money savings from FSD plus million mile battery durability is very exciting. Frees up more $ for w2w expenses |

Could you please expand on the pros and cons of each? What was your previous car? You’ll get the grey wheels! |

And once I got to the F80 I found that it's kind of boring to me now half a year into ownership. As soon as I rode in my buddy's Tesla 2 weeks ago I knew I had to have one. I'm a software dev by training and had been skeptical of Autopilot, etc., but as soon as I played with his car I didn't want to get out of it. Pros: - Instant acceleration/torque that pins you to the seat, no waiting or shifting involved. Point and shoot into whatever spot you want in traffic. - Autopilot situational awareness display lets you see around you at all times, way more useful than I thought - Automatic 360 dashcam, plus sentry mode - Speaker system better than HK audio - Infotainment is smooth as glass. I thought the giant screen would be gimmicky but actually loved it. So responsive. Had a G20 loaner for a while and even iDrive 7 is antiquated compared to Tesla UI. - My high rise gives me free unlimited charging, so no more paying for gas. - Giant glass roof and back window is awesome. Lots of luggage space and bonus frunk. - Being able to do so much via the smartphone app - Continuous OTA updates, even increased HP with recent update for free. It's unheard of for a car company to give you more power, for free. And wirelessly at that with a software update. - Not being nickle and dimed for basic things. It comes with Bluetooth phone key and NFC cards, however I ordered a passive entry key fob off their website for only $150. I can self pair it in seconds when my car comes. From BMW a key is ~$500 and stealership tries to charge you to pair it (even though you can do it yourself). - PIN # to drive car adds extra layer of security. Cons - Horror stories about the service department. You can't even call the service department to make an appointment anymore, everything is app/texting driven. - Very few body shops repair Teslas now. Shortage of parts. - Fit and finish issues Last edited by praxis218; 12-16-2019 at 02:58 PM.. |

Check out this guys channel. Tons of 1/2 mile races with the M3P.He is literally killing supercars All the way up to the high triple digits. The Performance Model 3 is now seriously fast and can hang even in the half mile, after that last 5% update.

Point is, gone are the days of Tesla's only being fast in 1/8th mile. I'd love to see some 60MPH rolls vs any of these cars post the 2nd 5% update.

https://www.neverlifthalfmile.com Anyone interested in attending also? Edit: there is a Tesla SC 12 mi away from the event location, so it’s a good one to keep the battery SoC >90% for max output |

about 110 mph. Also I'm not a big fan of this guy's vids, as he treats these 1/2 mile runs as if they're drag-strip runs. They're not, and nobody but him is going for "reaction time" on the starter's arm-drop. Last edited by ZCD1; 12-19-2019 at 09:36 AM.. |
