Think I'll probably do this mod, too. It's not like I sit in my driveway and idle for half an hour, so I doubt my neighbors will care too much. Thanks for the vids, OP.

This is different than just being in sport +, because while in sport +, the flap is constantly opening and closing part way to eliminate drone, this mod keeps the flap fully open which makes the car louder in the lower RPM range.

After a month of driving around with this mod, I just plugged it back in to stock form, mainly due to the cold starts creating earthquake like rumble and I was living in fear of being marked for death by my neighbors.
This is 100% accurate.

I'm just going to go ahead and say Accel Junky and Mrs. Accel Junky are providing the best content on the board for the last few days. Having two M3's doesn't hurt much either

This is the best free mod ever. It's the first thing I did when I got my M4. Sounds even better with my catless downpipes! Really no need for aftermarket exhaust.

I have 3 Garmin Virbs I just picked up at a steep discount. 2 of them are mounted on GoPro vacuum mounts and 1 is on my sticky pod. I haven't used them yet but they are all charged and have memory cards.

I used electrical tape to cover the plugs up on the harness and actuators. Then I looped the plugs through themselves where they clip to the heat shield in a lose knot. A zip tie would probably be ideal.

Honestly...I don't know. I guess whatever way you can get the valves fully open and then shut off the car.

def by far the best bang for you buck mod of all times....well, actually no $$ at all for a completely different feeling and completely different sounds....by the way it has to be in sport+, if im not mistaken... and you bought an ///M car which that would normally mean its going to be louder and more obnoxious than 90% of cars on the road...If your so worried about how loud it is just by doing this mod then you should have bought an electric car

and who cares about your neighbors...I know if im spending 80$ on a sports car, I want EVERYBODY to make sure they here it ...they will get over it sooner rather than later...take it from my experience lol

That's right. It doesn't make any difference.

Thanks for the instructional video. It is so easy, everyone should at least try it just to listen to it. If you like it, keep it. If not, go back to the original setting. No harm done.

I remember doing this to my 335 and changing it back as there is, was low rpm drone which annoyed me.
Now the cold start up sounds wicked evil.

Definitely a noticeable difference between the two. I would definitely do the golf tee mod if I ever get a f8x.

Now I understand why most f8x owners hate the sound of the cold start...it really does sound like a lawn mower.

for the great videos! Having heard the M3 in person, I believe that the audio in these videos is the closest representation of the sound in person.

I did this mod about a month ago and love it. Much more volume at idle and low RPMs. It is incredibly loud on a coldstart, which does make me worry about the neighbors sometimes. On the other hand I listen to their kids running up and down the street screaming all day long on the weekends, so they can deal with a loud engine for one minute.
