Basically you should shoot for $1,500-$2,000 over invoice and base rate. So in your case that would be proximately an additional (approximately) $1,000-$1,500 more off the sticker plus an additional $750 or so dollars for the money factor bump. That would drop your payment $60 or so a month.

But your local region could be tough to get a good deal. Right now with the MF "penalty" you are really only getting about $1,000 off sticker.

Lastly make sure if there are incentives available you get them.

Ok - thank you! Well, I'll get some of it back when I ask them to tint the windows at least... The salesman is saying our region is tough. It's the midwest - not sure how true that can be with a rear wheel drive car.

How do dealerships deal with tinted windows? Can't cost much more than $500 retail so I'm sure they can do it for less.

No way I would ever consider that. Base MF or nothing for me. You have to be willing to stand firm. I'd email blast some dealers. I sent this to 5 dealers and got responses:

My name is XXXX and I'm in the market for a 2016 M3 (F80).

Below is the build I'm interested in Leasing

Build:

- Alpine White/ Sahkir Orange
- CF Trim
- DCT
- LED's
- Black 19's
- Adaptive Suspension

Financials:

12K Miles (63% Residual Currently)
Base MF (.00135)
First Months and Fee's upon signing
$80 Doc Fee

**I'm looking for an allocation and production number.

I'd like to be in the area of $1500 above invoice. I am very familiar with the M3 and am currently shopping around. If you can be of any assistance I would greatly appreciate it.

***Please contact me by email at your earliest convenience.

Be patience and diligent. I'm getting ready to sign on mine (maybe early next week).

How do you find out what the invoice is on a car? Based on my build, what is a good lease rate? $850/month?

The wholesale (invoice) price sheet has been posted a few times around the forums. Or you can use a site like True Car to build the car and see the invoice price (last I checked their configurator was a bit off, but it'll get you close). I think cars.com has the same type of setup.

You shouldn't judge what is a "good" deal by the monthly price. Look at the individual pieces of the deal, like the discount off MSRP, money factor, dealer fees, etc. There is a great Leasing 101 thread stickied that you can read through to understand what all the pieces are if you're not familiar.

Take a look at this thread to get a good overview of leasing - http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1084623

To get the exact invoice price, you can use True Car or cars.com. Or you can find the invoice price sheet that's been posted a few times in the forum.

Help on a first time lease. Is this a good deal?

Looking to purchase an M3. Dealer tells me there are no more allocations for 2016 models and I would have to wait until June to order a 2017.. I asked the salesman for a scenario if he had a 2016 M3 and what my monthly payment would be with a trade in.

2016 M3
Msrp $ 72,995
Dealer price $71,995
Trade in a 2015 435 Gran Coupe with 28,500 miles. Dealer offers me $33,000 . Sticker of my 435 Gran Coupe was $59,500 but final price was $54,000. I would lose $21,000 in a 1 1/2 year with 28,500 miles. Payoff is $25,000 . Trade in $33,000

Lease for 36/60,000 miles

Trade in and 0 down for 36/60000 is $ 895.
Trade in and $3000 down for 36/60000 is $ 802.

Residual is $41,525

Good deal?
I'm not thrilled on trade in value and discount of new car if it was available.I would try to sell my car on my own for a better number. My monthly payments would be $ 400 more a month from what I'm currently paying. That's about $5,000 more in payments a year. Will my current car with me driving 20,000 miles a year go down est $5,000 a year? I'm just wondering if it pays off making this deal in the long run..

Well never mind that they don't have an allocation, but $1000 off is a joke, and is about $4000 over invoice still. That's terrible. That dealer may be out of allocations for the rest of this MY, but every dealer isn't. Just need to expand your search.

1. There are definitely allocations available. I was told by my CA last week before I ordered there were 24 dealers he could work a trade with to get an M3 allocation and he found one in about 24 hours give or take. I'm scheduled for production week 20.

2. $1000 is mediocre at best.

3. I wouldn't take the bath on your 435, sell that private party.

4. Typically putting money down on a lease is frowned upon. If you have good credit I would avoid it at all costs.

I'm curious if the kind people of this forum would be willing to PM me your sales persons email address(es) so that I may start inquiring. I live in the Bay Area and willing to travel or go outside of my state to get a good deal.

I'm not aware of all the forum rules, as I am very new to here... so my apologies if this isnt acceptable behavior or if Im out of line with this request!

Same thing happened to me and i spent a month without a production number getting jerked around. i then called every dealership within a 200 mile radius of NYC, found one that had 3 allocations, did a deal over the phone, had a production number by the end of business that day.

What's the selling price of the car? What's the money factor? What's the breakdown on the OTD cost?
