According to TireRack measurements, in generic sizes, usually the PS4S is either the same tread width or slightly narrower than the same sized PSS. This will vary with manufacturer specific tires.

Took a while to skim through this..but it was sometimes hard to follow as some didnt state their wheel specs with their wheel combo
I'm currently running 19x9 and 19x10 running 255/275 at stock height Seems like my options are of course the stock 255/275 or going up to 265/285. Seems the general consensus is an increase in overall grip but am I sacrificing anything by upsizing to the 265/285 combo? I'm assuming increase in tire weight on a street Car is negligible . What about the handling department? |

I have recently upped the psi to 35 on all 4 from 32 to see if there's any difference in handling. |

I'm going to be switching to MPS4S on the 437M wheels and cannot bring myself to run 265 up front due to the donut look. Will 255/285 combo work without issue? Will 285 over 275 in the rear make that much difference?

Yes 255/285 will work just fine and yes 285 rear makes a difference as it is a good bit wider than the 275 tire. I run this exact setup in the 18" version (255/40/18 and 285/40/18).

FYI, the tread width difference between the PS4S 255 and 265 is 0.7". Personally, it was the rears that I noticed the "donut" factor more than the fronts. |

Just checked. I cannot get neither of those tires in Europe. PS4S in 19's only and ECS only in the US.

Keep the PS4S or go back to PSS?
Quote:
Is the slightly wider M5 spec PSS 295/35-19 worth swapping back to the PSS? Or is the general consensus that overall advancements negate the slightly narrower tread width of the 285/35 PS4S?

I'm on my 2nd pair of rear 285/35/19 of the PS4S and I previously had the M5 295/35 PSS tires. I would not go back, the slightly narrower 285/35 PS4S is so much better than the old Pilot Sports. Just make the switch and you wont be disappointed with the grip of the PS4S, so much better of a tire I think. |

Looking for some help with tires and spacers, I’m on the fence about some tires that I’ll be ordering here in the next few days.
I’ve read a couple threads for the 437M wheels and the general consensus seems to be: 1. 265M0 F / 295* R 35/19 MPSS 2. 265 F / 285 R /35/19 MPS4S I recently found this thread and after a lot of reading I’m wondering, at this point which set up would you guys recommend, and spacer options at these sizes. I’ve seen on most threads people suggesting anywhere from 12mm all around, 10mm all around, and even 7 or 8mm all around. I would like a nice full/ aggressive look but absolutely no rubbing. Seeking advice
I had been set on purchasing 265/35 and 285/35 in 19s for the wheels 9 and 10 width Ordered them several weeks ago. Was. Notified by Michelin that there is nothing for at least another month. They said 1000 tires will be available in a month for distribution throughout the county. He wasnt able to tell me if those tires are all accounted to fill current orders. So I have no idea how many back orders were placed before mine. Looking for a backup plan/next best thing. I was thinking of just going back to 255/275 as they are in stock or is there any other tire I should be cross shopping available in 265/285. This is strictly daily driver with rainy summers Dont know too much about this stuff but are the 285 4s worth waiting for instead of going 275. |

Try calling local tire shops, I'm in the bay area in CA and I was able to get one from a local shop - he told me at least a couple of his suppliers had this in stock. Can't comment on 255/275 vs 265/285 Michelin 4S tires, but I can say that my 255/275 Continentals pretty much sucked compared to my current 265/285 4S setup - always breaking loose especially in the wet. Now car hooks up pretty good. Very noticeable difference on the track as well. Edit: current setup is 265/285 not 265/295 Last edited by NotACarGuy; 03-11-2020 at 06:37 PM.. |
