Rubbing 275/35/19 in the front
So I just got some new tires and one side is not rubbing at all while one side is rubbing a decent amount. Does rubbing the fender liner actually cause damage? Long term? Short term? Will my car be perfectly fine if some of the fender liner is just rubbed away? Here's a video guys. I'm sorry for the bad quality, I recorded on Snapchat not my actual camera.

Profanity aside....
You put oversized tires in a space that’s not designed for it. Of course it will rub. And the reason why one side rubs and the other one doesn’t is because the left side of the car is not a mirror reflection of the right side. Having said that - you can shave that piece of liner. Or just live with the rub |

Most likely it won't but it could. The headlight assembly and horn are both in there so if water gets there you might have some issues. But I would not sweat it. But but I'd also put on proper tire sizes |

Heat gun the fender lining, push it out out of the way, problem solved. 275/35 is on the tall side, 265/35 would be better. Most of our track customers run 275/30 front and 305/30 rear.

+1. It’s not that the 275 is too wide for the front. The 35 aspect ratio is too tall for a tire that wide. Just get a 275/30 and you’ll be fine.

OP you didn't give any info....spacers or not? lowered or not?
I can confidently tell you this because it's tried and tested.... Stock height / No spacers - 275/35's will not touch. Stock height / 10-12mm spacer 265/35 will not touch I am running 265/285/35 front to back on stock height wil 12 mm spacers all around. It clears in the front, barely though. By the way putting 275's in front is pointless. I found the car more enjoyable with 255's in the front and 285's in the rear. At max I would go 265/35 in front.

I run 265/35 r19 on stock wheels without issue with PSS for the street. I run a square setup of 275/35 r19 on 19x10 ET 25 wheels for the track. No rubbing with either setup on stock EDC suspension both before and after GC camber plates.
Your stock wheel could be pinching the tire and causing the rub, or it could be specific to that brand tire (Conti). |
