Anyone running the new Michelin cup 2 connect tire?

I thought these tires were just like the normal cup2s but with Bluetooth connectivity. However, after more research, they are the successor to the cup 2 and have a better compound for wet conditions and UTQG wear rating has improved from 180 to 240 from the standard cup 2.

Sounds like this is a great step up compared to PS4S since the UTQG wear rating is now more in line with the PS4S (240 UTQG vs. 300 UTQG).

Seems like an interesting tire, but they're so new they only have a handful of sizes available and no back to back reviews vs the cup2s yet. Might make for a good road and casual track tire in locales that don't see a ton of rain.

The connected sensor tech itself seems like a bit of a gimmick however, I'd pass on the sensors are they're pricey and annoying to setup. All they do is act as a tpms & single spot temp sensor which our cars already do to some extent. Some sort of sensor temp bar extending across and the full contact patch would have been far more useful to communicate what sort of alignment to dial in for certain tracks and would eliminate the need for jumping out of the car after a session and taking the pyrometer out.

I'd like to see a 275/295 30 series 20" in their lineup.

Thanks. The size I need won't come out until the end of this year 265/35/19.

Per Tirerack, this is a extreme performance tire rather than a track competition tire which is a nice change.

Tirerack won't road hazard competition tires so I was out of luck when I punctured my standard Cup 2.

Interresting find. It seems Michelin is expanding the range of the PSC2 with this tire.

You might want to modify your tread title though, because the tire you refer to is the "Pilot Sport Cup 2 (240) Connect". Michelin also makes the PSC2 Connect in the traditional 180 UTQG rating.

Bluetooth connectivity in a tire? I'll hold out for the WiFi/5G model.

I believe Michelin will slowly be phasing out the Cup 2 in favor of this version in the coming years. This is really the Cup 2.5 since it has a better dry AND wet compound and better tread wear.

Haha yes, this is optional however. The track connect is a nice feature but the improved performance and better wear is why I'm interested in it.

They sound great and I've heard some good things about them but for the price I just can't see it being worth it unless they somehow have RE71R like grip and PS4S longevity.

Very interested in these as well. With a 240 UTQG they should certainly wear better than the current PSC2's, but like dvq mentioned, with them being so new there are limited sizes and little to no comparative tests out yet.

That being said, if they really are Michelin's delve into the extreme summer category and provide better grip with comparable longevity, I'll be anxiously awaiting and crossing my fingers for 265/35R19 and 305/30R19 offerings in the upcoming future.

I contemplated these tires but for an extra 400 for just rears I decided no thanks. I will continue with the ps4s

I'm wondering if it's safe to use the Cup 2 connect in the rear with standard cup 2 in the front. My fronts still have some life left but I'm due for new rears. Fortunately they make the rears in 285/30/20 (still waiting for 265/35/19 for the front like some others have mentioned)

Tire rack did a review on these new tires. In essence, A+ steering response, better wet performance over standard Cup 2, low noise/decent comfort and obviously better tire wear compared to the outgoing cup 2.

I have cup2 R 305/30/20 rear and cup2 connect 265/30/20 front for m3cs. To be honest Not too much different as it's a daily. However I do like the firm sidewall. I like my M4 with pirelli trofeo r better than cup2. Too bad they don't have 265/30/20

First take on it via Tirerack's test data show it lagging well behind the A052 (i.e. see wet and dry lap times, wet and dry braking charts). For an all-around dry summer tire, the PSC2 Connect240 might be interesting, but for an all-out streetable track/autocross tire, it doesn't appear to be in the same league as the A052. 2021 should see the RE-71RS arrive in the US too to compete in TW200 limited classes. Of course the A052 (and RE71R) aren't the sweetest tires to drive on the street everyday by a loooong shot.

I'd love to get a set of A052's, unfortunately their choice of wheel size applications are severely lacking in the 19" category. And after emailing Yokohama directly to inquire about any plans to expand their 19" offerings, I was told that "...we do not have plans for this size at this time".

Seems like with such a great testing tire they'd want to expand their sales demographic, but it would appear that's not the case

RE71RS is not coming to the US as per an industry resource.

19" sizes of the Falken RT660 are around the corner though!

GRM has a review of the Cup 2 240 tires which are available in sizes for the M2.

Tire does well in comparison to the RE71R. The 240 rating doesn't seem to hurt performance.
