Hmm. The base car would come with steel brakes. You'd think you would not need to add any weight for CCB as it's included in the 1500kg, or maybe add the weight of the steel brakes and then subtract the difference in weight of the CCBs.

Edit - I think that's what you did - 40lb is the difference, not the actual weight. NM.

Yup, 40lb is the estimated difference of iron rotors vs CCB

So...shouldn't the CCB be lighter than the steels?

Yes that is the point. Since the Roundel article specifies that to meet the 1500kg you need to have the CCB option, to figure out the weight of a DCT car without CCB, you need to add back the weight difference of the CCB. No?

+ 165lb (75kg) driver
3575lb (1625kg) Total
Right-O, assuming only 20 kg difference for the DCT and used 40 kg instead of 40 lb for the brakes.

Ah, I thought you meant a CCB car. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Now I feel dumb...

It seems worse than we anticipated. Autocar quotes the DCT as having a 40kg (88lb) penalty over the 6MT...

Sounds unlikely to me. How often do the mags screw up?

Agreed, mags do screw-up the data pretty often.

We already know that the DCT will be at least 32 kg heavier than the 6MT (the difference was 20kg on the E9X plus the new 6MT is 12kg lighter). The big question is what is the difference, if any, between the old and new DCT. 8kg does not seem far fetched for a beefed-up version of the DCT... it will probably end up being something in between.
