Well, I am not an expert, but I loved the E36. I realize that by today's standards, it is a bit slow and pretty darn basic. But I'd still like to have one as a 2nd car in the garage. The E46 was much more refined and powerful, but a little peaky. The F8X is by far my favorite, although I only have 8 days of experience with it so far. Love the motor, the handling, the steering (which has been panned by professional journalists) and the sound (which seems to be on everyone's mind). And I just love the way the 4 door looks. Very hunkered down and aggressive!

I test drove several E92s, and I loved the sound, but again, the power seemed up pretty high in the rev zone. Coming from V8 Mustangs, I have always liked low end torque, so this new model fits that to a T!

Really, you can't go wrong with any of the Ms. They all are wonderful, and have their own character, strengths and charm. The strength of the "M3" brand is that they've been able to bring something new to the table with every successive generation. Each one was and is special.

This write up sealed the deal further. I wish I could "like" it more than once.

I also regret not doing my M in ED. Couple years will be my goal.
Yes, there is nothing like it. And part of the fun is the planning process. Bimmerpost has so much great information and gives you so many great options. Take your girlfriend. I guarantee you she'll love you 10X more once you go.

ED could have saved my marriage had I managed to do it sooner ! I bet that direct quote doesn't show up much on the web very often!!

After 17 years of owning an E30M3, I took my daughter and my wife on the trip to purchase my 1M. My wife at that time had never been a fan of BMWs all 14 years we were married. We had a great time and she loved the welt and Germany, after previously having " no desire to go overseas".

Since that trip she has purchased FOUR (E46) BMWs! We are no longer together , but had we taken a trip like this earlier, then perhaps I wouldn't have had to endure years of her telling me That I loved my car more than her. Of course , now she's in love with a carbon black E46 M3. Well, maybe she was right

I found mine 10-15 miles from my place, in a color that I wanted the most (Techno Violet). I couldn't believe my luck when the car popped up on Facebook, of all places. Was also owned by a CCA member. Needless to say, I fell in love with it and have been super happy with it for the past year and a half. It's an ongoing project though!

We originally were planning on Vienna, which is one of my favorite cities. But the stories of the border chaos and influx of migrants was concerning, so we stayed further west. But Vienna is beautiful.

Hmmm....well I will just point out that if you had a 1988 M3 you SHOULD have loved it a lot, and maybe more than your wife! Awesome car!!!!

Same here! and I am also trying to go back for Euro Delivery.. it's been 4 years and I was planning on the M2 but now may have to maybe get the girffriend a car (she covets the 435 gran coupe) or perhaps pick up an X1 because I love my 1M too much right now!

I saw a Gran Coupe at the auto show. It surprised me. In person it looks pretty darn cool!

In response to a couple of requests for more pics, here's some oldies but goodies.

The Mustang I referred to in the beginning (get a look at those wheels! LOL), a couple more shots from the trip including a Yellow convertible from the delivery center, a prior (and very cool) 1985 SVO Turbo Mustang, the 328is after I added a rear wing, and my first German Car (77 Rabbit) with front "performance" air dam. haha.

Good point! I probably went through 12 different possible routes, looked at several dozen hotels, checked out reviews of numerous restaurants, and read every ED Bimmerpost article I could find. It's a difficult to find the time off from work and the $ to get to Europe, so when we go, it takes a lot of advanced planning. That's why the BMW ED program is so cool. It is an incentive to take the time to go overseas!

I lived in DC when I did the first EuroD. The car prowled the streets around 4th and I SW for a year or two before moving out to Alexandria off of Route 1.

It was a great time. I love that area!

Epic trip. I loved the 20th anniversary part of it all. San Marino Blue is a great color choice and I'm sure people were gawking over the color just as much as the car. It's Rare to see a color so bold in Europe.
