The data is not from the BMW M Registry. I do provide some data to them, but other than that I have no connections to that website. The only reason why I advertise it here is because I think it's a great resource for the M owners.

Interior breakdown is coming, the packages and options are not. There are too many of them and contents of packages change from year to year from market to market.

The 982 number includes the 30 Jahre Edition cars (150 of them). Other than that, I don't think there were any special editions.

I knew MT was more popular in the US than most other countries and regions, I had no idea how much more popular!

I just downloaded buildsheet off BMW's ASAP website for every single F80 and extrapolate data from that.

I was gonna comment on that as well. That really surprised me. Nice to see the MT purists here put their money where their mouth is.

I’m curious as well what it looks like for the M2. I bet it is closer to an even split between MT and DCT.

Ah okay. I figured BMW put in their last F80 push, the amount of individual M3 they produced and gave to dealerships. Those numbers put in but maybe not? It's okay though. I know which # mine was from Maria hehe.

Hopefully this means manual US owners will stop calling their cars "rare".

Maria told me I was #6 on the M3 side for my color. #18 (or 17 I think) combined with the M4.

I asked her while my car was in production.

There are 15 Grigio Medio US market F80 M3s. I'm not sure when your car was ordered, but by the end of February 2017 there were already 9 Grigio Medio M3s (meaning 2016 and 2017 models)

P.S. I feel like I already had this conversation before or I'm having a deja vu

Maybe deja vu. I cannot find the email Maria sent but I remember a few # she told me.

Sadly I don't have the email anymore but I was not above #10 for certain on the M3 side unless she separated the LCI models and non-LCI models. I am also certain that I wasn't #20 combined. Kinda wish I kept the email...

I got my car in November 2017, went into production start of September 2017. I remember this because I emailed Maria then after hearing absolutely nothing from the dealership I ordered it from. I got very tired of waiting so I went directly to BMW NA and Maria to find out what is going on. She replied after being on vacation that, my car literally went into production just as she was emailing me back. Then i asked her about my # and I could have swear I was 6. Since I added that into my info a year ago when my M3 went into production and was finished lol.

P.S. Then again, I could be remembering incorrectly because it's been a year.

Hopefully this will mean more manuals in the future.

If chest-thumping, atta-boys, feelings of rarity, and pats on the back are part of that process, I am all for it.

A long time ago, a wise person named aw/mw the colour of a dental ambulance. Wah can fill you in on how cruel the folks here can be...

Myz, Peter's front plate is in front of me right now. I managed to unpack everything unimportant a day before yesterday so I found that one. Now all I need is a car again, at some point this act of stubbornness has to end, I think.

According to the color chart, there are absolutely no San Marino Blue’s in the US? And that I am only 1 of 2 F80’s, LCI, Comp, in Canada?

That can’t be right, can it?

Maybe they went under special paint pre-LCI?

It's because there are no SMB M3's in the US that were produced for regular production (that is, using order code B51). There obviously are some SMB M3's that were ordered with Special Paint (that is, using order code 490), and those would be lumped in with all the others in the last line item in the chart.

Remember, most of the world got SMB as a standard M3/M4 color in conjunction with it becoming available for the M3/M4 CS. The US did not.

So there are 56 + 982 Individual colored cars in the US? Including the last push at the end of MY18 production?

Very interested in seeing the individual color break down! Curious how rare some colors actually are.
