Knocking noise from rear M4c
Searched the internet high and low but can’t find anything on this, I have a quiet wooden knocking coming from the rear of the car when going over small bumps and ripples at low speeds, after 40 either road noise is to much or they go away, not diff related can be heard coasting. 2016 done 40k miles. Faulting finding so far below…
- Rear pads and clips replaced - Lower control arms replaced - Drop links - Shocks replaced for a second hand pair (really unlucky if these had the same issue but possible?) - New top mounts - Top cup on the rear spring along with the top rubber hats/shoes as you’d call them - New set of Eibach rears sent out to confirm it’s not the springs (still makes the noise on standard springs) - Ripped the entire rear of the interior out to check it’s not something stupid rattling - Output seals on diff as had a slight leak - Diff bush for a single polly bush (OEM bush wasn’t split before the change) Chap down the road has the same issue but not as bad as mine, yet. Mine Goes away on cold morning for a few miles |

mine having the same knocking sound when moving slowly over ripples...I was suspecting the lower arms. But seems L80OUS already done that replacement and its not the cure...Hope someone has found the issue.

Have you checked the drive shaft? Also another thing you might not know. The handbrake cable bracket can break and you will have the cables occasionally tapping the drive shaft causing a tapping noise.
