As much as I want the size of an M2 or smaller I don't like the 2 as much as the 4 aesthetically. I will likely be purchasing the M4. Super excited.

With the new structuring, it seems like the M3/M4 slots into a spot that I'm not interested in.
For a sporty M car I would get the M2 and for an executive M I would get the M5

The M3 is BMW's crown jewel, the icon. The M5 is a luxury bruiser cruiser and I suspect the M2 will be a very spunky and fun car like the 1M but make no mistake I'm certain that the M3/M4 will continue to be the ultimate M car until they decide to make a modern M1.
If I'm wrong and the new M3 is another numb, soft F-series disappointment BMW is going to lose it's enthusiast status quicker than the car can circle the Welt. IMO BMW just can't afford not to absolutely WOW the enthusiasts and press with this car. I think it's going to be good, very good. Last edited by solstice; 07-28-2013 at 12:58 AM.. |

I definitely won't go for the new M3/M4.
I love my v8 e92 and can't see myself going down to a 6 cylinder.BMW has let down their loyal customers including me because they supposed to be having the best naturally aspirated engines in the world and now they slap turbos onto their M cars. WTF! |

My X3 35i "work" lease is up in April - so, I am going to kick the tires of an F80 in the spring as it will likely be my next car. If it is not amazing, I will step down to the 335.

You guys that have already placed a deposit in order to get the first allocations, how are you negotiating the deal this far in advance? Are you just agreeing to MSRP?

I'm leaning no at this stage: (1) I still love the E92's V8 too much; (2) I'm not discontented for now; (3) I'm thinking that the next car is a low Kms 991 CS2 w/ goodies - as a weekender, as (4) my 335d is a perfect commuter w/ grunt to spare - hence no need for the extra torque of the M4's TT 6; and (5) the design has not evolved enough for me vs E92, the word 'staid' comes to mind when considering the E92 was penned in mid-2000s. Porsche has done much better w/ its old Boxter/Cayman vs new iterations for e.g. - more bold /aggressive.

I am waiting for it anxiously. However, I am not so sure if I will be buying the first year. I will wait at least until the M4 grancoupe to make my choice. As of right now I hope they do a better job of making M4 a true successor to the current E92 M3.
I also have stingray on my radar. So I will have to compare price wise, performance wise and practicality wise. I know M4 seems more practical but price wise the edge will probably go with stingray. Because BMW is on some sort of high with a nearly 60K plus M-sport 435i. At that range we will be looking at a 80K plus fully loaded M4. I am not so sure at that price point M4 is as appealing anymore. You can buy a host of other cars near that price point that offer equal or greater level of performance in mint used versions on market. The performance edge is yet to be decided but it will be hard pressed for M4 to beat the performance figures for stingray. I am hoping it does at least in auto version with 7-spd dct vs 6-spd auto. I think BMW needs to also step up and offer a 7-spd manual now both Corvette and Porsche have it.

I'm going through military sales. Obviously don't know the price, but it will be set and not negotiable. Historically it's been about $6-7k off MPRP.

For the four BMWs I ordered two had price sheets ready to go and I got roughly five percent discounts. For my X3 model change over I placed a deposit before order sheet and pricing was unavailable. We did not even talk about my sales price. This was the same for the M3. I just placed my deposit for the third M3 allocation at my Midwest dealer. In my mind I expect to pay ED MSRP for my first ED but will offer a modest discount when pricing and sales contracts available. My sales advisor is great and I do my research on this forum and offer a reasonable price and they accept. He will even include me in any national sales discounts.

i did not have to give a deposit. if there is no ED pricing at invoice, i will cancel and get a P car. i am not paying full msrp and i am not doing it without ED pricing. that price gap is a lot. for that, i will move to a different vehicle. only time will tell what they do.

I spoke with my sales associate and he is a huge BMW enthusiast, both bikes and cars. I asked him about this and he stated MSRP, which I am fine with. This is not my first M from this dealership and I will buy from them frequently. I figure it is a win win situation. They give me the car I want without any mistakes and I pay the price they ask, which is MSRP, and I feel MSRP is fair. Some people may disagree, but everyone should work out the deal they feel comfortable with.

Not sure at worst I would say ED MSRP. but if we can we will try to go lower for you guys. It will all depend on BMW and allocations which you can understand Im sure
