Don't possess X-ray vision to see past all that camouflage which remains on the F83 M4 convertible prototype? No worries, we give you this digital preview.

As the spy photos and our renders show, the M4 convertible will generally share the M4 coupe and M3 sedan's styling, and of course powerplant/drivetrain.

The biggest difference will be the M4 cabrio's folding hardtop. Unlike the M4 and M3's carbon fiber double-hump roof, the M4 convertible will be metal and operate and fold in the same manner we're used to seeing on the E93 M3 convertible. We stitched together earlier spy photos for a preview video (reposted below).

The M4 convertible will debut later in 2014, after the the M4 coupe and M3 sedan have their world debuts at the Detroit show in January.

Aww, I thought it was a lime green metallic...but it's just a filter over that mustard yellow color.

Lime green metallic would look HAWT. Looks good in that burnt orange too.

So how much weight will it add, any ideas?

I never liked the e93 because the lines with the top up just didn't look as good as the coupe for some reason. Doesn't seem to be as big of a problem here though.

All pumped up looking at the renderings and then I looked at the spy shots with the top up. Are they planning on landing aircraft on that rear deck? It looks even larger than the E93!

wow, that looks incredible. If you live somewhere with great weather and nice back country roads this is the way to go! If you don't track your car, the extra weight is completely insignificant compared to the joy of having a blue or even better, night sky, above you.

If that's what it will look like, for the first time ever on any car, except the e-type, I'd want the convertible over the coupe model.

Place with good weather? Check.

Do not track car? Check.

I am happy I met the criteria for a convertible M3 ;-)

The lines flow so much better than the E93. Looks great. The trunk kick is going to be a huge help in the design.
