Intake for S55

What's the best intake for an F80 M3 ZCP that gives me good throttle response/noise/and good price?

K&N drop in filters and remove the charcoal filters.
$120 or so and you’re set.

OEM intakes are super effective

Thanks!

Noises won’t be that pronounced but any tuner you talk to will say that oem intakes are more than enough. Everything else is just bling.

Open air intakes suck air from the engine bay and often times compensate by adding cold air feeds by the grille.
You can also get aggressive intakes that sit behind the front grille but those are $$$. You will get the noise though.

I have this setup and love it. Noise is super loud and comes with cold air feeds by the grille. Most likely zero horsepower gains and $2k down the drain, but looks and sounds good.

I'm surprised it took this long to reply lol.

Most owners go with two brands intakes when it comes to the F8x in general. MSR or Eventuri. But as Tommy mentioned, a lot of shops would just tell you the same, remove the Charcoal Filter in the OEM Intake, drop in BMC or K&N filter. Disable the ASD so you can hear the actual engine more naturally, you will be able to hear the induction noise but it will be subtle.

MSR would give you more of the swooshing noise but it's pricey.

It depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. If you want a loud intake, Injen is the loudest.

OEM airboxes with BMC drop-ins sound fine and breathe great. Do the charcoal delete and Active Sound delete.

If you want more turbo whine then I'd look for a used Eventuri v1 (open duct), or maybe go the DP/Midpipe route. I chose the DP/MP route to increase turbo volume by increasing exhaust outflow.

Does anyone have any sound clips of them having drop ins and is there a difference between BMC and K&N??

No real big difference between BMC and K&N. Both are red oiled multilayer cotton gauze filter material in fully molded rubber surrounds. K&N is made in USA, and BMC is made in Italy. BMC advertises the largest filter surface due to the smallest edges where rubber meets filter, and also touts to catch particles down to 7 micron. I use K&N cleaner and red oil on my BMC filters.

I tried VRSF intakes and BMC filters on my own car. The car feels more responsive with both these options vs stock. the gains felt similar with both options but the VRSF intake sounds a lot better

got my ssr paint matched to my car noise is definitely more noticeable compare to stock, that was my main goal not for performance, also kept the stock box on bottom to help reduce some heat lol like everyone mentioned more of a bling and sound thing

We run the BMS Elite in ours. Nice option as it retains the factory airbox bottom for airflow ducting and heat isolation.

Definitely recommend going used if possible. Got my MSR setup that way and paid like 1500$ ish for intakes and Chargepipes. The noise these intakes make are intoxicating and those filters behind the grill look beautiful. I’ve gotten so many compliments and one from my pops which was shocking. He drove in front of me once and said to never go back to stock.
