I guess I'll be the first one with negative comments. Not a fan of the front bumper, wheels are fugly, and the color looks like puke. With that said I'll be ordering one in a decent color and changing the wheels asap

**Maybe I didn't read far enough

This is a real mixed bag for the car. I was really pleasantly surprised to see the inside the rear fender photos and learn that the rear "air curtains" in the bumper are indeed functional like the front ones. This is quintessential BMW M. Unfortunately it does lead to a very busy/cluttered look. Now that being said I am also confident there are many surfaces/features in both the front and rear bumper cover that are 100% aesthetic and form over function... Let's wait and see if the side vents are truly functional. These were in the E46 M3 but were NOT in the E9X M3. Let's also hold off on a judgement about the power dome. It could be for the engine/bracing or could also be for pedestrian impact reasons. Unfortunately it is most likely form over function/. The cheesy carbon fiber covers on the exhaust tips are 100% form over function. I also kind of suspect the cheesy ///M stripes are for the concept car only. Thus the claims from SCOTT26 about function over form are exaggerated and flavored by BMW Marketing...
-The Pchop with the improved hood/bumper line looks infinitely better that line in the hood is really quite hideous.

-I suspect 19" wheels will be standard and 20" optional.

-I'm definitely looking more closely at the P cars. I guess that is just a natural progression for an M guy... Surely for me it is also about really wondering if I want my 4th M3. Whoops 1st M4...

I can't explain how much more excited I would be if I knew this car was just coming with an improved S65.

okay. please forgive me for not scanning the previous 40+ pages to see how many times this has been asked but how come this "concept" doesn't look like a concept? I mean this looks like it could be 100% the actual production model. The main styling features i.e. bumpers look very similar to current ///m's and the lights as well. There is nothing overly futuristic here that I am accustomed to seeing in concept cars. The license plate doesn't even say "concept" on it like it usually does. Again sorry for the stupid question but I thought this was the official release of the ///m4.

History repeats itself and it'll likely look 99% exactly like this.

But in fact, that could be the production model already out and that's one of the 1st owners. Can't see why not right - that's as production as it gets.

Does anyone actually thinks this looks better than an m3 e92? I think the e92 m3 looks not only better but a more classic design. And no I am not one who always hates the new edition as when the e92 came out I had loved the e46 but I adored the e92 immediately. This is just a loss in my view. Performance will be amazing I am sure but for me so much of it is loving the look of the car I am in and man I know already I would never buy this. GT3 for me

a look at the overwhelming positive response in the 40 some odd pages of comments that precedes this one will answer your question.

I love this. For the guys with the '12-'13 E92's...now you know, deep in your souls, that patience is a virtue. Now you have to wait 2-3 years until your lease is up, or if you made the mistake of buying it when you KNEW there was a new M coming and that resale on your "classic" M3 would plummet, you can nitpick the hell out of this car, but you know you're experiencing shrinkage.

So be introspective. You'll get one in a couple-3 years, and in 2020, you can tear apart the new design for betraying the legendary F82.

People. get over the " No more special engine from ///"... the only special engines were the S85 and S65. THATS IT! All the other special engines were regular BMW engines from like a 330 made into monsters. Just like the Current M5 and M3/4. GET OVER IT!

Was at the Festorics today but didn't see the M4. Too many amazing race cars around.
The CSL got punted by a mustang I think. Warm up was cut short too since the wreck was so bad.

Agreed that ///M to a 911 is something of a natural progression (if one likes track) unless you need the room to tote kids etc around.

I got to say, I agree w/ the poster above re some of the comp b/w an M4 and G37. I hope in the metal that this notion is utterly disabused.

The engine power is still under the Merc's AMG C63 especially the quoted torque. But I am sure a lighter car will be a lot more nimble where it matters.
What was so special about the S50/52? The US version was a joke.

not sherrif serious.

S54 was definitely not a 330 engine made over... in any way. may have been loosely based on an M52 or M54 or M50 or something but thats very loosely based.

current engine will hopefully have the same kinds of modifications and will be able to stand on its own.

As long as its not just an N54 or N55 with bolt-ons and a tune.

Did everyone read the article correctly? There are going to be variants in line with what the 911 does.

The M4 is the carerra.
Then there is the carerra s
Gt3
Gt3rs
Gt2

And so on.
