6month/2000mile oil change?
Have the maintenance plan, used to change the oil at 5k/6month paid and 10k/year covered at the dealer. Last time changed in May and so far only have been driven for literally less than 2k miles due to the pandemic. I know the synthetic oil lasts longer, is it really necessary to change it in half a year in this case?

Oil is 100% up to you - I guess just don't leave it longer than the manufacturer spec. I change mine every 6mo's or 5000 miles, whichever is first. Probably overkill, but oil and filters are cheap and it takes me 30 min or less

You'll want to change the oil again in May 2021 (1 year) unless you drive it another 3000 miles before then (total of 5000).

As long as you're changing with the BMW Long Life Motor Oil, you should be good for the year change /10K miles as BMW Recommends.
If you're tracking the car, intervals will change and most likely wouldn't be running eco-friendly long life motor oil.
