Exclamation Signature Public Announcement - MP4S + KW HAS Fitment

As a member of the wheel community, we feel that it is important for us to share our findings about the wider MP4S and KW HAS fitment issue.

(Only impacts older KW HAS PN 253200AN, disregard if you have PN 253200ANU) *Thanks Justin from Auto Talent

MP4S is about 3-4 mm wider per side compared to the MPSS tires (Tire Rack's tire specs doesn't disclose this). KW HAS has helper springs, which the spring perch sits lower than any other HAS kit on the market. With that in mind, the front fitment can be very challenging.

Below is a photo of 20x9.5 ET20 with 265/30/20 MP4S tires (front). MPSS had no issues with this fitment in the past on KW HAS, but MP4S being wider hits the spring perch. At the minimum, we recommend 9.5 ET17 to clear 265 MP4S for KW HAS.

Our other customer bought 20x9.5 ET18 hoping it will clear MP4S with KW HAS, which it did but with only 1.5mm to spare. Being so close the spring perch, he added 3mm spacers in front just to be safe.

We hope you find this helpful. Feel free to ask any wheels fitment questions.

*per Justin from AutoTalent: "KW has created a new HAS kit. The one installed on the Frozen Black car in the pictures is KW HAS 253200AN, the revised one is 253200ANU. The new "ANU" part number has a smaller perch, which does not have clearance issues."

Correct me if I'm wrong but this would be the case for any wheels size from 18in - 20in if you want to run 265s in the front?

This is not something new, it's been brought up a few times already about the tight clearance with the HAS kit.

Wheel diameter doesn't impact offset, just width. So 19x9.5 ET20 265/35/19 will have the same clearance as 20x9.5 ET20 265/30/20.

Somewhere in the same line, but MP4S weren't even available when Ashley started that thread in 2015. Those who looked at that thread would go with 19x9.5 ET20 or 20x9.5 ET20 front to clear KW HAS. Now with MP4S, 9.5 ET20 won't work is the point.

The purpose of this thread is educating everyone that MP4S is even WIDER than MPSS, so 9.5 ET17 minimum is needed to clear 265 MP4S tires on KW HAS.

Tire Tread isn't what hitting the spring perch, it's the sidewall (section width). MP4S sidewall is wider than MPSS, this is direct feedback from a few of our customers.

OH MAN. Thanks for putting this out here. I've got Vorsteinner VFF103's with MP4S and I'm scheduled to drop TOMORROW on M Performance suspension, which I understand is basically the KW HAS system. As far as I can tell, these wheels are ET22. So I would need about a 5mm spacer to clear I'm guessing. Not at all sure that will not cause an issue with the fenders at that point. They already look pretty flush without any spacers.

Now I'm stressed.....

MP HAS doesn't have a helper springs like the KW HAS, the spring perch sits above the tire sidewalls so you should be fine. Please report back with photos of your MP HAS clearance so the community can see as proof.

For what it's worth, KW has created a new HAS kit. The one installed on the Frozen Black car in the pictures is KW HAS 253200AN, the revised one is 253200ANU. The new "ANU" part number has a smaller perch, which does not have clearance issues.

Any chance to update just the spring without getting a whole new set?

Thanks

The perch and adjustment ring is noticeably smaller compared to the AN part number.
