I was about to say the same exact thing, modding is make the car look different than the next M3. My first mods are a drop and new wheels with aggressive offsets. Next will be a lip when available :-)

And that is why you are not considered the same type of enthusiast as the rest of us. Car nuts tinker!

You're the guy who eats because you're human and you have to, and you exclaim, "It's just food!"......while we eat because we enjoy it and the varying tastes that a little seasoning can provide. Sometimes we want a steak from Morton's rather than TGIF Friday's. That's okay though.

Do they dry age?

Steak eating, for me, is done one of two ways -- Argentinian style places with flank/hanger/skirt, or dry aged black and blue Kansas City strip (NY strip, porterhouse or ribeye acceptable substitute).

Filet is for the uninitiated masses.

They sure do. Their dry age is delicious. I butterfly mine. I'm getting hungry now!

Bone in filet is the only way I will buy or consume one. Meat needs to have fat on it for flavor. Chima is not bad, problem I end up eating so much I go in to meat coma.

It's not about question of affordability or finances, it's to me money wasted down the drain. I'm different like that, I know you are going to say stuff But it's the same reason why I don't regularly drink outside because for the cost of a beer in a bar, I can buy a 6 pack at home. If I'm having dinner with friends and family, fine, no problem, but I'm not one of those people who go out to drink, because I know it's a big waste of money.

I'm a bit of a conservative if you will, I don't like wasting money if I can save it and it doesn't matter how much the money is, $10 or $100 or $1000. I have no problem paying for high quality premium stuff, in fact, I love doing that. If I buy something, I usually buy the best there is that I can afford.

I have seen so many people who spend 10-20 grand on their cars on mods and when they had to trade them in or sale them to a private party, they had 0 dollar value. You know why? Because the banks or the insurance companies will always consider car's regular value. They will never pay you for mods (whether you are in an accident, or you are a private buyer trying to finance a car). Wanting a car that looks sleek is nice, but if I'm going to spend 10-20k in mods, I may as well buy a car that costs 20k more and at least I'll have "some" value for my extra 20k.

I know this way of thinking is not welcome in a forum like this, but this is how my brain works

BMW has already done a great job designing these cars, why bother?

Wheel question: 18 vs 19?

First, the important part: Come to Atlanta. We'll feed you guys a good steak. "Bones" is winning the Steak Safari my wife and friends and I have been on for a few months but the title is somewhat in dispute. Rathbun's Steakhouse is running a very close second.

Now, on to my question. From a novice: What is the difference between 18" and 19" wheels. I don't mean in the literal sense. I get it that they are a different radius. I'm asking what is the difference from a driver's perspective? Is there a difference in performance or is it just aesthetic? Are the tires radically different prices? Please and thanks for any explanation.

There are many who say that a set of 19s will actually decrease the weight since the tire has less substance due to thinner sidewall. I am not sure if anyone except maybe Niki Lauda could feel the difference in weight savings. That being said, the 19s are going to cost you more money to strap on tires. If I get a set of 4 staggered tires for my car with 19s, I am looking at $900 shipped. If I get 18s, I found prices in the $600 range for all 4. For me, I would prefer a set of 18s due to comfort of ride, but they wouldn't look right on the F80/F82. 19s almost look too small.

To me in ATL it's Chops > Rathbuns > NY Prime > Bones. The Bones steak was just OK compared to the others IMO.

Pappas Bros in Dallas is really good but so are the Atlanta steak houses. I would probably put Pappas close to the top.

Chops is on the Safari list... We've not been there yet but I've heard very, very good things. Looking forward to it.

And it's all fun and games until somebody has to play the damned bacon card!

Luckily (or unluckily) I have no idea what that means.
