I was told not to... your tune reads your wideband o2 sensor readings.. so you want them to be accurate the defouler will cause inaccurate readings

Anyone running MHD? I noticed o2 sensor and EVAP monitors were not setting with flash tune. Do I flash back to stage 0 or flash back to stock(long write) to enable the monitors? Thank you in advance!

If you use the app I posted in the description and an obd2 capable adapter (I used vgate icar pro 4.0 bluetooth) there is an emissions feature. It will update live when each readiness monitor is set to ready. That’s the easiest way to know if you are definitely going to pass if your monitors and ready to not. If you don’t have it I recommend buying it for $20-$30 and the app is free. If not, you have to just follow the drive cycle (see photo I attached in description of post) and hope it worked and your monitors are ready

Great job. I install my DP's myself, but to save the 3 hours total to remove prior, and re install after smog sounds incredible.
Thanks!

I’m completely catless. o2 simulators would work but why even do that when you can just do the defoulers like I did? I passed with VRSF catless downpipes, AA midpipe and M performance exhaust by installing the defoulers into the downstream o2 sensors
I'm surprised they didn't smell you and fail you on the spot.

Mine smells like the racetrack after running for 10 seconds when I'm on 93, I hate it; I'm completely catless as well. E85 isn't bad smelling so I keep it that way

They wont do a sniff check because who wants fumes in their garages. I just register mine to a friends address where there are no emissions restrictions....or do i?

FYI this works perfectly. I've been doing this trick with all my cars over the years and it never fails. Just screwed 2 non-foulers in each down pipe and turn on the OEM cat reading option on BM3. I didn't flash back to stock like OP and the trick still works. I kept the stage 2 tune flashed and still passed the OBD test in MD. Non-foulers ftw.

not sure why you need to remove the defouler afterwards. Your pre-cat O2(front) is the wideband that handles all of your AFR and fueling requirements. The post-cat(rear) it mainly just for determining if your cat is functioning properly. I don't see an issue with leaving them in.

Best solution: move to a state that doesn't do emissions testing.

Any one have any experience in NJ? I was looking to get the AA EL Midpipe catless (leaving stock downpipes in) and wondering if I can pass NJ emissions test. I can't seem to find a good answer.

you won't have a problem if you remove the cats on the mid pipe. The engine doesn't even know those exist. So no chance of a code being thrown.

Hey guys so I did the fouler and flashed over to stock but I have not found the same success. I stacked two foulers from O'reilys just like OP on the 02 sensor closest to the midpipe on the respective downpipes.

First picture is what I was reading as BM3 stage 2 without foulers on.
Second and third picture is what I am reading after stock tune and foulers on. After driving for 30 minutes I got a check engine light on the stock tune.

The difference that the foulers and stage 2 made is that now I am passing 02 sensor but still failing oxygen system heater and evap system.

Is there something I am missing? I really don't wanna resort to buying downpipes and going through the whole process...

I would really appreciate any help whatsoever. For reference I am in IL and the car is a 2015.

I'm not positive here but I think the evap system requires an overnight, or a few drive cycles. The hard part is getting to only one Not Ready (PA allows 1) before the CEL happens. My mechanic said "drive right here" soon as you get to 1, but my CEL came on 5min later (no defoulers, I tried to time it). I gave up and put the cats back on to pass.

I see, I made the mistake of selling my stock downpipes thinking I would pass because my straight piped STi passed with no issues. I guess I am forced to order some used ones off eBay.

I keep almost everything just in case.
Wife thinks I'm crazy with a full exhaust hanging on the wall... "Modern artwork" I say...

I was going to go this approach and just leave them on. http://bigdaddiesgarage.com/mini-cat-cel-fix.html

Go to a junkyard with a heat gun. Find a good sticker. Remove from totaled vehicle. Stick onto a nonstick paper ( cooking type ) Install on your car. See you next year. I know a guy who has done this for 10 years who has a GTR =)

We don't have inspection stickers in Cali.
