When COVID hit, I started looking at cars and nervously hoped for a smoking deal. My gut said, try to find one, my brain told me I was crazy to try and buy a car during such uncertain times.
In June 2020 I paid $58k for a 2018 ZCP with 17k that had a original sticker total of $84k and had a PPF track kit on it and decently new tires. That was a fair price at that time after perusing for a car for 3-4 months. I saw no "stellar deals". After watching the pricing change over the last several months…If think if you can get the same spec'd car for close to $60k, I think you did well considering how insane prices have climbed. Just hold on to it for at least 2-3 years to get the "depreciated use" of the recent increases out it. Aka, put miles on it and enjoy it! Don't let it be a garage queen. TLDR : anything near $60k for an '18 under 20k is a good deal now. But you better drive it to get the value out of recent price increases. Don't let it sit. That's just my opinion. |

I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk that was stolen two months ago. Because of that I ended up buying my F80.
From my research, price has settled in the high 50s, low 60s for 2018 F80s. It didn't matter if it was base or high spec, that's the range they're selling for. So I waited and found a very high spec one (90k MSRP) Mineral White with basically same mods I'd do on mine. Sell price was 64k and with original price I think it's a fair depreciation for a 3 year car (almost 30k!). Now...here is where things get crazy. Just for your entertainment, my Jeep I bought it in August 2019 for 76k with 3,800 miles. If you go and buy one they are in the 80s with 20-30k miles. Insurance company ended up giving me 91k for the car and it had almost 30k miles. Crazy!!!! |

it's crazy...but the ones I saw with less than 20k were actually in the high 60s, low 70s. Insane honestly. |

I was searching the BMW NA website where dealers list all their PO inventory. So I just refreshed that page like twice a day for months : ) |

I've been testing the waters with offers within the last week, I have a 2017 M3 ZCP with ~22,500k miles and near perfect condition: Vroom offered $20 something thousand, felt like actually hitting the reply button on the email to tell them to go fuck themselves. Carmax offered $50k BMW Seattle offered $51k KBB offered $51k and then I talked the local participating dealer up to $53k |

Im not sure how long those values are being stable, some MFR's (Audi, BMW & Merc) in Germany had already announced to discontinuing classic fuel engines and at the end you may be forced by extremely high fuel prices and/or taxes to get rid of your car.

Ditto. I was apprehensive to buy another car in April 2020 but when looking around, I found a 2018 M4 convertible w/ 7800 miles in Kansas City for $57k. The car had just come off lease at the selling dealer who had done all the maintenance. The car was loaded - every box checked. MSRP was $99k when new. MPE, carbon everywhere, etc. I just couldn't believe I could buy it for 60% of the MSRP only 18 months into service. I bit and now I'm seeing the same specs selling for $10-15k more. Timing is everything! I have no intention of selling the car but it's nice knowing that I've enjoyed the drive for the past 15 months without suffering depreciation. And considering the design elements of the new version, I have no intention of "upgrading" anytime soon.

2016 M4 mineral gray. Executive package. Just shy of 25k miles. Carvana offered me 45,060 back in May. Today I got an email from them to review my new offer and it was 46,144. Looking to sell in the next few weeks. Need to see what Carmax will offer.

Just traded my 2018 M3 comp with a manual trans for a 2021 E63s. It was a very difficult thing letting go of the M3. So many things about the car that really worked for me. The M3 had 16K miles on it.
Made the trade because I love the 4 liter motor in the AMG and I wanted a car better suited to cross-country drives. High speed, comfort, tech etc. The reason I post up is that I was offered (and took) $73K for the M3! Not sure what the MB dealership was thinking? Can only imagine that someone made a mistake. Regardless, I took the offer and bought the E63. Wildly impressive car, but am certain I will miss the M3. |

At my local dealership there are two 2018 f80s in the high 60s… I'm just curious who is paying that much. At that point might as well buy a new 2022
