Battery question
Looking for some advice from the forum. I took my car for an inspection and they told me the battery needs attention.
As background, the car is usually driven on the weekend as my work requires another car. The report read that there was 80-200mA draw from the battery when in standby. I can say that there is nothing plugged in like cellphone charger, radar, camera etc The report also states that the state of charge is at 82 percent and start ability limit 19% The bmw tech states that it may be software related and the service advisor stated that it is nothing of concern, as it is related to low mileage and to drive it more or to place it on a battery tender. Would anyone be able to offer some advice or comments about the health of my battery? Thanks in advance |

Battery is fine. You’re at 82%, perfectly normal given your described driving habits. Current is always being drawn as various computers are always running even when the car is off; if the battery gets too low, it can go into safe mode and stop this function. A li-on battery tender certainly won’t hurt, I use one if my M4 will sit for more than a couple days for piece of mind.

The recommended battery charger is the CTEK Lithium US, available on Amazon for less than $100. This is the same rebranded charger that BMW sells, only the BMW one costs more.

In hindsight, should have waited for the CTEK but it seems to do the trick. |

There are many on these forums, I've posted several myself. Try the Search button above. Or just go to Amazon and search for "CTEK Lithium US".
Do you really want other people to do all the work for you???
