Hello everyone,
I placed an order last week for an M3 ED. I'm going to be driving the car for two months in Europe and I'm planning to hard wire a dash cam and install a cosmetic package (grills, side reflectors, side markers) on the car plus do some coding. Does anybody know if the car has to be brought back to the factory appearance and settings before shipping the car to the US? Thanks |

The VPC will restore the car to 100% factory condition. Furthermore, anything on the car that is not factory will not clear customs. BMW pays import duties on everything in the car. That is why you are advised to take the warning triangle and first aid kit home with you. BMW does not pay duties on those so they are removed prior to re-delivery.
Best advice, do not modify the car in any way in Europe. You could delay your re-delivery in the US and cause legal issues with customs.

Definitely don't mod the car. You'll have issues with customs and create a headache for BMW.
By the way, the triangle and first aid kit don't meet US DOT regulations. That's the only reason they aren't provided for the US market. If you fail to remove them they'll get confiscated/tossed at the VDC. |
